After several centuries, the Xylian Dominion undertakes another attempt of geneengineering a specie of slaves.
Xylian society slowly devolved over time, with more and more Xylians not wishing to work, and with more and more jobs done by machines. However, there was a moment in their history when their still primitive machines could no longer be expanded in terms of usage.
The first attempt on using magic to recreate a captured humans into decent workers ended with creation of Dwarfs. While resilient and strong, the side effect of modifications they underwent was their small stature, caused by a mistake in a process.
It took several centuries for the extremely stagnant Xylians to decide that they already learned enough about genetics to undertake another attempt. This time the effect were first ogres - strong, resillient and capable of breeding quickly to replenish losses.
