Khardism

Khardism is a rather curious and unique religious system that originates in Holy Kingdom of Khard in southwestern edge of Lana continent, between vast territories of wild beastmen and New Menoria Federation. It is a state religion of Khard, while also having a significant minorities of worshippers in New Menoria, Verkvenan Confederation and United Kingdom of Ceveria, with insignificant encountered pretty much everywhere in Imperium of Karadia sphere of influence.   It is a religion that actively searches for more converts, however it's missionaries aren't exactly welcomed in continental Imperium. On Lana they have more successes, but they still trigger sometimes rather negative reactions of other religious systems on the continent. In that matter it is considered a serious threat, due to its approach that is similar to how Imperial Religion approach prior to Dawn War.   It doesn't oppose other gods, but considers them a lesser beings, which threatens them with servitude status if khardism grows too much.

Mythology & Lore

Creation Story
Both Light and Dark were created by Overtyrant in the very onset on history, existing in a fused state until He parted them. Before, a Chaos existed, where His thoughts influenced everything, forging the very foundation of the world to be... plus the concepts of everything that was ever created after the parting happened.   Later, beings started to grow, as He intended them to. Plants and animals, some of which grew complex enough to be able to receive His influence and grow into a sapient creatures, capable of learning the world around them and improving themselves, beginning their long climb into the ultimate Perfection.

Divine Origins

History
Khardism was created by the unnamed Prophetess, believed to be a Cat-morph beastman. If certain suggestions in the Holy Scripture are to be believed, she underwent a rather painful things in the pass, but after being a 'slave to the Tyrants' and witnessing the world outside of the woods of the beastmen she began to see things. She firstly though to be insane, then she understood what a perfect being speaks to her in her dreams.   The Holy Scripture of Khardism is mostly her insights into the nature of the world and the being she called The One Above the Tyrants (or Overtyrant as a short), that never made any direct communications with her, being the only god to never say a word in their holy books. She simply saw things, things that blessed her with understanding, without ever witnessing the being responsible for it (if she did, then considering His nature, she would probably went insane or die outright).   The Prophetess finally died, but her religion influence grow. Soon a significant part of beastmen converted, and managed to secure lands now known as Khard after a bloody struggle with those that remained slaves to Tyrants, refusing the light Overtyrant brought to them. To this day the Khard remains, trying to expand the religion and convert (either peacefully or, if it fails, forcefully) the rest of the beastmen.

Cosmological Views

Overtyrant
Overtyrant is a monotheistic Greater Enigma worshipped by khardics as an omnipotent, benevolent god responsible for creation of world. He (if a gender is even applicable to such a being) is, essentially, a world most powerful Aberrant, an eldritch abomination that is mostly described by what it isn't rather than what it is. It is a being so alien to mortals that complete comprehension of His nature is downright impossible.   He is an Aberrant whose Taint (a uniform mutation/change that is their imprint upon their mortal servants) is so widespread that it is no longer considered a Taint. It is sapience - a quirk that only some animals that grew complex enough can receive, because their intellects grew to the point of being able to receive His gift. Because of that, all sapient species are ultimately aligned to His mindset. All Aberrants warp their servants to their image. The image of Overtyrant is what mortals consider as normalcy.   Overtyrant was named like that to separate him from various deities and gods worshipped by beastmen - that khardics collectively name Tyrants. He is above them all, vastly superior than those already powerful beings. His exact name is unknown, as he never introduces Himself in the holy scriptures of Khardism.

Enemies
There are two chief categories of Overtyrant's enemies. There are no predefined opposing entities, both categories are open and describe whole types of beings.   Overtyrant's influence on mortal species grows overtime, perfecting them into a perfect forms. This includes the growth of mortal species understanding of Reality and Unreality, of their moral, magical and scientifical progress. Mortals are but an imperfect vessels of His divine influence. There are bound to be impurities that have to be hammered out of them during the long process of improvement.   This impurities can be both metaphorical (sins - greed, dishonesty, envy, wrath, lust and so on) and quite real. All daemons that hail from the 'subjects' that are considered sinful by Church of Overtyrant are considered Impurities. They grow from the imperfections of mortal species and thus should be expunged out of the world. It's a long process, but one that will ultimately be finished with mortals achieving their perfect status.   There are also worse things. Other Aberrants, beings that try to turn the perfect route of progress devised by Overtyrant into a twisted nightmare. They are known by khardics as the Tyrants, and are considered something much worse than common Impurities.   Both Impurities and Tyrants have to be opposed by all possible means. When normal means fail, an extremist approach is considered something completely acceptable, as tolerance against such evils is a sin in itself. Commiting all sins (aside from three anathemas) in fight against sins of the world is acceptable.   This approach changed the border between Holy Kingdom of Khard and beastmen domains into a hellscape forever tainted with evil magicks. With servants of Overtyrant countering every attrocity of their enemies with even more terrible deeds. It also leads to Khard producing great numbers of zealous warriors/sorcerers that consider annihilation of evil their holy missions, that are also one of chief exports of the kingdom.   This extremist approach has a side effect of indirectly shielding big part of New Menoria from beastmen incursions by redirecting their attention to their hated enemies while lowering their overall population. What's more, the central provinces of Khard are significantly safer from their threat that similar lands of North Lana Confederation and United Kingdom of Ceveria.

Afterlife
For khardics the world is a music played by Overtyrant... they are merely the sapient notes. They can either improve themselves to become a perfect parts of the melody, to create something great... or remain a broken parts. More and more such notes are created as more and more beings begins to be able to resonate the music of Overtyrant.   The afterlife of khardism is considered becoming a perfect note, achieving - through their own struggle and the will of their god - perfection and remaining on His side, in perfect form beyond the shackles of matter. This state is known as Symphony - those that become part of it are those who lived their lifes properly. Others are casted aside, broken beyond reparation, bound to ultimately cease to exist completely when Overtyrant finished His great job and all world unites as a part of Symphony.

Tenets of Faith

Teachings
Holy number of Overtyrant is 17. Because of the khardism has seventeen virtues and seventeen vices, both of them antonymous to each other. They are divided into Seven Primeval Sins (and Seven Primeval Virtues), Seven Disharmonies (and Seven Harmonies), and Three Anathemas (Three Pillars).   Seven Primeval Sins/Virtues are Wrath/Patience, Greed/Generosity, Envy/Kindness, Lust/Chastity, Gluttony/Temperance, Pride/Humility and Sloth/Diligence. Each person is somewhere along the line between antonymous Sins/Virtues, the whole point is to try to push yourself towards virtue... because going the other side will not only make you directly less pure but also make you more vulnerable to Disharmonies and Anathemas.   Seven Disharmonies/Harmonies are Selfishness/Altruism, Cowardice/Bravery, Dishonesty/Honesty, Injustice/Justice, Betrayal/Loyalty, Inhospitability/Hospitality, and Ignorance/Understanding. While being a wrathful person makes you sinful, being selfish isn't directly a sin from khardic point of view. It is, however, a disharmony of character, that one must attempt to purge if he wishes to become a better person. They can be considered local version of Inrithism light sins, that are believed to lead to Purgatory rather than outright damnation in that religion.   Three Anathemas/Pillars are Unbelief/Belief, Tolerance/Zealotry, Dishonor/Honor. Commiting an anathema willingly equals to automatic excomunication from every khardic religious organization (and even society as a whole, if discovered) and is believed to mean being damned in afterlife. There are ways to purge yourself from Anathema by returning to the Pillars (that the whole khardism considers the most sacred foundation of the faith), but it should be preferably done BEFORE one is slain.
