Arthur Aetherling is a person who is believed to have existed and achieve at least majority of things acredited to him, however with details mostly unknown. Next to nothing is known about his past and early life, with Saga of Founding of Olathoe describing only his heroic deeds, not mentioning anything else.
He was worshipped as a fusion between an ancestor spirit and demigod hero by inhabitants of Lomar. After its destruction at the hands of the Nythrathril's progeny, surviving member of its population fled to the Imperium, where his worship was reformed, changing him into Grimhammer, a demigod serving Ember, imperial chief god, and patron of honour and fair rulers.

Personal history

Arthur Aetherling was born to an unknown pair of human tribesman living on southern coast of Frozen Sea. His childhood is mostly unknown, he was however supposedly considered a very promising youth, fighting from his youngest years against abominations emerging from Frozen Sea.
Finally he received a calling from Old Gods his tribe worshipped. He marched north, through the desolate wastes of eastern Frozen Sea coast, where no men dared to live. Finally he reached the farthest north, where he discovered a magical hammer gifted to him by his Gods, that he used to shatter apart a glacier - hammer that he named Icebreaker.
He returned from this trip as a different men, with no account left about his lone march. Together with a group of warriors he prosecuted his war against a Grand Aberrant named Nythrathril. Finally, after long fighting, he assaulted the terrible being himself, defeating it and imprisoning in the depths of the sea, putting an end to its reign of terror over the coasts of the Frozen Sea.
After that he founded a city of Olathoe near the river Dven estuary, which later became a capital of Kingdom of Lomar. Founding a dynasty - whose name was established Aetherlings, after a certain title Arthur received tht isn't exactly translatable. Finally dying in a way unknown.

Believed to have - according to the customs of barbarian tribes of precivilization era - several concubines, with at least a few of them slaves he personally enslaved during his tribal wars against other groups from the east and south.

Mental Trauma

Following his pilgrimage to the north he is said to become a completely different person, silent and grim, passionate in his hatred to the Nythrathril, with the part about shattering the glacier being the only thing he ever said about his trip.
