Súðejasvík Jórveif

Southernmost of the Jórveifen of Hrafnawyld. Its capital is the city of the same name, which also serves as an unofficial capital for Hrafnawyld as a whole, housing the emissaries of numerous foreign interests.

History

Súðejasvík was founded early in the Migration, as an influx of Ancestral Wylden immigrating from Abhagan swelled the population of the settlement that became its capital, as well as the highly fertile surrounding region.

Foreign Relations

Súðejasvík is the hub through which any and all foreign trade (excepting illegal and illicit activities such as Northfjorder piracy, of course) enters Hrafnawyld, specifically the City itself. As such, many foreign merchants and emissaries keep temporary quarters or embassies within the City, and most are tolerated at the very least, in the name of commerce and diplomacy.

Agriculture & Industry

Súðejasvík is second only to the Silverlands in terms of agricultural output, and does extensive trade with all four northern Jórveifen based on this alone. However, its position closest to other civilizations, and its leadership's policy of allowing commerce with the same, make it by far the wealthiest and most economically dominant of all six Wylden Jórveifen. Through the eponymous capital, all foreign trade flows into Hrafnawyld as a whole; likewise, through the City, foreign merchants gain limited access to rare and valuable goods found or made only in Hrafnawyld.

Education

Súðejasvík boasts one of the highest literacy rates in all Hrafnawyld, largely due to the fact that a significant portion of the population lives in the capital city or its immediate surroundings. Education and literacy are both highly valued, with some rugged individuals taking on the role of wandering teachers for a season of adventure in the countryside, as they see it. These individuals are frequently welcomed in smaller settlements, where they are warmly hosted in return for spreading their knowledge among the locals.

Major Exports
Wylden weapons and armor are highly valued abroad, and smiths do a brisk trade in Súðejasvík. Wylden Silver, though harder to come by, is also prized. Runesmithed items fetch a premium, when they are offered at all, as they are highly sought after and treasured for their unique properties by all foreign cultures. Many foreign peoples also greatly desire the leather and horn derived from the native elgstúren of Hrafnawyld, and composite bows crafted from the latter are another lucrative item.
