The Fracturing War History

211 years before the current day.
Since the beginning of the 4th Era, humans of all races were mostly at peace with one another. History at least likes you to think that. What really was going on is that petty squabbles between commoners happened all the time, this era is known as one of peace because the 6 major houses in Galfin did not take up arms with each other for 555 years.
The leaders of each of the great houses at this time are as follows:
Plainqueen Ella Skytracer who ruled the bulk of the Great Plateau as well as half of the Vargen Swamplands. She was a fierce woman who controlled much less property than her neighbors but the fertile farmland and vast gold mines made her one of the wealthiest rulers. She sent aid and missionaries to her neighbors but they all were growing jealous of her growing wealth. She wielded the unyielding greatsword of her ancestor Beowulf Skytracer. The swords name was the Valauric Blade
Mountainking Gilberd Oakhand who ruled the lone mountain of Fogholt, the entire Firefang Jags and half of the Incantum Forest. The Oakhand family has always been a little obscure. They passed down their powerful chaos magic lineage. The Spellswords were known to be a small military but their magic made them more powerful than most large armies. Gilberd unlocked his great ancestor's vault and used the Phylactery of the Magelord to boost the power of his army.
Eastking Humfridus Windslayer who ruled the Eastern Coast, the Mooncrest Woods, a third of the Great Plateau and half of the Vargen Swamplands. Humfridus was a warlord much like his ancestors, although the province of Mooncrest has settled and become much more civilized. The Westking amassed an army of rangers and warriors as he tried to keep his growing population fed. The Mooncrest thinks on it's own and whenever trees were cleared for farming, the woods took that land back with roots and rainstorms. His people were starving and his coffers were empty buying food from the Plainqueen. The Windslayer family had lived by the blood of their enemies. It is said that no Windslayer has ever been bested in one on one combat. Each member of the reigning family has wielded the mighty Dragonlance, a spear said to have been forged by the spellsword Dhara when he was still just a man.
Tombqueen Nefertiti Rhytyn who ruled the Caluan Desert as well as being in charge of ensuring good faith with the deities of the afterlife. The people of Calua worshipped different gods than most. Although their ancestors also saw Dhara ascend to the heavens, they believe in more abstract gods like the sun, moon and wind. This has put them at odds with the predominantly Dhara worshiping humans of the other provinces. Nefertiti was powerful Deathscrier and spent a lot of her time in the tombs documenting the deaths of people she saw in her visions.
Northking Watty Boggan ruled over the northern Hollow Peak and half of the Incantum Forest. This Northking was a frail man who was fearful of many dangers in the world. He was not the cunning mastermind that his ancestors were known to be. The Hollow Peak was a fishing and agriculture province but Watty's irrational fears lead him to call off many of the needed projects to bring wealth to his land. In secret he was funding his peoples survival by the growing debt he owed to the Skytracer family. His collateral was the Sylvan Rings passed down from his ancestor, the rings had many magical properties but he was too afraid to ever use them.
The Tempest family have been in an ongoing civil feud over who would wear the Tidesking mantle. There is no definitive wielder of the legendary Imperius Trident on the laid back island nation of Pacura.
  End of the 4th Era
Years of political movement positioned Eastking Humfridus to amount a large following of noble families.
Before this war of royal Houses, the factions of men were at peace for 555 years after the 6 heroes rallied with Dhara to defeat the Onyx Elves. The Great Rebellion also led to the lesser elemental elves being cornered into small pockets of their homes as penance for the tyranny the oppressive Onyx elves brought upon the world. Although the elves were furious over man turning against them, they were not strong enough to fight the emboldened humans.
The Mountainking and Eastking attacked the Northking and Plainqueen. By the numbers, the Eastern kingdom should have wiped the Plainqueen off the map but she held strong in her Capitol of Skygarde. The north was losing to the magical spellswords of the Oakhand army. After the city of Retch was sacked, all seemed lost for the two smaller armies.
Watty opened up his ancestors rings and activated their magic allowing powerful portals to be opened in the world.
As Skygarde was choked out by the siege of the East, Watty showed up through a magic portal to assist the Plainqueen in her last ditch effort. They held off the siege for a few more nights as Ella planned how to win this war.
She whisked away in the black of night to go seek help from the race no man had spoken with since the fall of the Onyx elves.
She met with the Rootfather of the Eleyond wood elves, the Cinderlord of the Emberstreak fire elves and the Granitayor of the Underdirt terra elves.
She promised them their land back if they would help her defeat her enemies. They did not trust humans but feared the bloodlust of the Eastking and the unhinged magic of the Mountainking.
Each faction of elf began fighting against the aggressors. All the armies started from a portal in Skygarde and pushed back the angered Humfridus. Using Watty's rings to teleport where they were needed after the capitol was held. The North and the wood elves took back Retch and pushed the mountain army to the south side of the Jags. The fire elves kept the mountain army retreating back to Fogholt with the assistance of Plainqueen Ella. The Skytracer army retook the plains and defeated the Eastking with the help of the terra elves. Humfridus surrender and was forced to give away his Dragonlance to a peaceful village for safekeeping until a threat required it to be used for good. Even though the spellswords were mostly slain and Gilberd pushed all the way back to his mountain home, he would not yield his aggressions. He even lost his legendary Phylactery somewhere in the mountains for it to be lost to time. In a final raid on the city of Fogholt, Ella killed Gilberd and left his son Galus Oakhand to clean up the broken kingdom.
When it was over the elves were given protected land. The Firefang jags were taken from the Oakhand family and given back to the fire elves, although the province itself was now governed by Ella Skytracer.
The Eastern king was executed after a trial and his son was given his ancestral home of Arboran and tasked with protecting the provinces of Mooncrest and the Eastern coast. Ella also succeeded the Vargen Swamplands to the Eastking. This was more of a punishment because the people and ogres who make it home cause more harm than good. Ella took the rest of the Great Plateau and controlled the most rich farming land on the realm.
With the Mountainking refusing to surrender, Ella revoked all deed to lands except for the lonely mountain that Fogholt resided in. The powerful mages went from controlling the entire mountain province to one standalone mountain on the border of the plateau and desert. The Oakhand line never recovered and was wiped out by the Fogholt plague two generations later.
With the Great Plateau and the Firefang Jags now under one family and this being the largest piece of land. The fair division of Galfin split into 6 families was now broken.
The 9 families of Tempest and the neutral Tombqueen voted alongside Ella Skytracer to elect her the first Highqueen, ruling over the other 5 kingdoms as well as their own to ensure peace.
This ushered in the 5th Era, the end of the golden age of peace brought upon by the 6 heroes ended by the families of those same Heroes.
The year was now 5E, 1.
The Highqueen was henceforth known as Ella the Immortal for her rallying of the elves. The losing faction called her Ella the Pointed Ear for many years while they recovered their pride.
