(One chapter in particular catches your attention)
The Great Philactery
One such device being a powerful philactery where you could maintain your human form and not become deathly and skeletal. The device was lost to the ages. His descendants created a large recreation on the device but it was his entire throne room, not very movable. Also the recreation kept the spirit alive for eternity but his body still aged. The Oakhand king used this to stop the Fogholt plague from killing his people.
Adonis' philactery was able to be carried on your person or stored a nation away and it could still keep you alive. This ancient artifact's last known whereabouts was only 30 years ago when it ended up on the island of Typhon. Thresh, the stormblood at the time used it to increase his power and bring him immortalitycso he could conquer Pacura. When the mutiny revolution started to take a turn for the worse, Thresh was about to enter a ceremony to imbue himself with eternal life. In that instant, one of his most trusted men, as those were the only people allowed in this secret ceremony, stole the device to never let it be used again. This man is an unknown foot soldier in the Typhon army but this act almost single handedly ended the war as the mutineers held their ground and Thresh went insane after he tasted immortality. He eventually killed himself and his wife, leaving his only son Thormund to watch.
Who was this soldier who stole the device? No one knows but it is said his unmarked grave is lost somewhere in Pacura as he died on the run trying to be one the correct side of history.
