Rymschinga
pheoran elf coming of age. anyone who seeks a leadership role must venture out into the realm. introducing themselves to the Highking is important.
Tradition of Rymschinga, this journey is taken by anyone who wishes to pursue the challenge of the Ashstorm to one day become the Cindralkin or Cindralga. The usually 15 year old fire elf must venture out into the world to learn and explore the realm. The usual path is to travel the long journey to the Gaulan capital of Skygarde. For the last 200 years, elf and man relationship have gotten better but are still tense. The Highking or Highqueen will take time out of court to meet with an elf on this journey to bless their journey and thank them for visiting. The Highking and their family relied on the elves to take their throne to end the Fracturing War. Although dangers and adventure await, the fire elves are trained for combat and are able to defend themselves.
Rynestra Fyrlash adjusted the straps of her pack, the weight of her family's expectations heavier than the belongings she carried. At fifteen, her Ashtorm Brandings glimmered faintly against her dark crimson skin, catching the morning light as she stepped onto the first volcanic path of her Rymschinga. The journey was sacred—a rite of passage for those who dared dream of becoming the Cindralga. It was a journey meant to temper her will, broaden her wisdom, and expose her to the world beyond the fiery spires of the Firefang Jags.
The first leg of her journey was daunting: the long trek to Skygarde, the heart of the Gaulan Plains. She had heard the stories—how gaulan both admired and feared her kind, their alliance forged reluctantly in the fires of war. Even now, tensions smouldered beneath the surface of uneasy peace. Yet, the Highqueen herself had invited her to court, as tradition demanded. It was said that the sovereign would personally offer their blessing, a gesture meant to honour the Pheoran Elves’ unyielding role in uniting the fractured kingdoms.
Rynestra’s mind swirled with uncertainty and anticipation as she descended into the lower valleys, where the volcanic heat gave way to greener terrain. The sword at her side felt both a comfort and a reminder of what lay ahead. The world outside the Jags was vast, filled with dangers unknown to her people. Bandits, wild beasts, and the unfamiliar stares of the Gaul awaited. Yet, every Pheoran Elf who had undertaken the Rymschinga before her had returned changed—not just stronger, but wiser, bearing stories of battles fought and bonds forged.
The road to Skygarde would take months, a journey punctuated by encounters with the world’s beauty and its cruelties. But Rynestra welcomed the challenge. Her fiery spirit, forged in the crucible of the Jags, burned with the conviction that she would one day face the Ashstorm Hydra. The journey was her first test, a prelude to the trials that would determine her fate.
As she turned to take one last look at the distant peaks of the Jags, their smoky crowns silhouetted against the dawn, she whispered a quiet vow to Uthgar. Her Rymschinga had begun, and with it, the first spark of her destiny.
