Grimbind Rule in Retch
A man older than dynasties grew up a commoner in the town that would eventually become Retch. This was before the Onyx elves, before the 6 heroes, before modern civilization.
Retch was built as a small fishing and agricultural society and was eventually ran by an elected lord known as Bogdan Grimbind.
He slowly lost empathy towards his citizens as he listened to them squabble day in and day out. One day a beautiful woman came to court to ask him to marry her. This was highly unorthodox for the times and this peaked Bogdan’s interest. He did not say yes but decided to have this woman for dinner. She spoke of power she lusted for and that Bogdan could be more one day. Bogdan fell for this woman and they wed shortly after.
It was only much later when they had spent a decade getting richer and taking more land did he clue into that she had not aged a day. This woman was Maven, a succubus. She did not grow old like normal people. Bogdan was not angered by her not telling him the truth, he continued to seek what he did not have. Immortalty.
The Laws of Transference are as follows. Essence, Life, Time, Death.
Anyone looking to travel time, create life, stop time or cheat death were usually imposed by the gods themselves.
Bogdan prayed to the gods to find a way for immortal life. They call answered with storms and blights. Bogdan would not let his love live forever without him, he also was growing more selfish, caring less for his wife and more for himself. Bogdan reached out to a lesser known god, one of Corruption and Debauchery. Bogdan began praying to Vlox to help the lord live forever. Vlox did just that because this god was curious about an idea that had been bouncing his godly head. Vlox decided to manipulate Bogdan to become the world’s first Vampire.
Bogdan then went on a terror that lasted centuries. He infected more than he can count and is the sole reason there is a population of vampires today.
Bogdan and Maven’s relationship has faltered over the years but even if there was a century of scalding hate, they end up together inevitably.
Bogdan was killed by a recent thrall he turned. Zane Feerskar of Skigwater slew the Vampire Lord with the help of Penoir the Dwarflord of Vauldaur.
Maven has been searching for the power lost with her estranged husband simply referred to as the Grimbind Power.
As the Seekers have researched, we believe this ancestral vampire power is affiliated with the same energies that the Harrowing uses to stay undead.
