Eastern Moot

The Eastern Moot is a traditional gathering of the clans and tribes of the Ivorian Heathlands, where important matters of state are discussed and settled. It is also the venue for the selection of the Eastking, the ruler of the kingdom. The Eastking title is usually passed down through the male line of the ruling clan, but if the current Eastking has no male heirs or the male heirs are deemed unfit to rule, the title may be challenged through the Eastern Moot. Any relative, male or female, of the current Eastking is eligible to challenge for the title, as long as their grandparent is still alive. The challenge is settled through a tournament known as the Eastern Moot, in which the rival claimants engage in combat to determine who is the most worthy to rule. The winner of the tournament is declared the Eastking, and he becomes the ruler of the Ivorian Heathlands. The Windslayer Clan has held the title of Eastking for the majority of its history, and they have a long tradition of martial prowess and leadership.
