Dy'Fenn the Dreamer - Dreams and Nightmares

Dy’Fenn the Dreamer – The Prince of the Dream   Dy’Fenn the Dreamer is a halfling-like deity from the distant dreaming realm of Malum, a place far removed from the lands of Galfin. As a counterpart to Twilight, the Matron of Dreams, Dy’Fenn traverses the Weave only when he sleeps. His presence in this realm is enigmatic and fleeting, yet deeply impactful to those who encounter him. Dy’Fenn is a figure of both mystery and duality, embodying the creative wonders of dreams and the terrifying depths of nightmares. Followers of Dy’Fenn venerate him as a guide through the subconscious, seeking wisdom, inspiration, and even prophecy in their slumber. Yet, his worship also acknowledges the darker aspects of dreams—the shadows of fear and anguish that manifest as nightmares.   Dy’Fenn is depicted as a pale-skinned figure, clad in a cloak adorned with shifting eye symbols. The most striking feature of this garment is the living eye on the verge of sleep, an eternal emblem of his connection to the dream realm. His lantern, an artifact of great power, emits a Deep Quiet—a protective aura capable of shielding its bearer from Night Terrors. This lantern is as much a symbol of solace as it is a tool of survival, granting brief moments of peace within the chaotic Weave. Dy’Fenn also carries herbs such as mugwort and milkthistle, believed to aid in navigating the dreamscape.   Dy’Fenn is not entirely alone in his wandering. His companions, Paladins of Áine the Raven, accompanies him to keep him aim him back home. Áine is a deity from the Malum pantheon, embodying order and control, a stark contrast to Dy’Fenn’s free-spirited and dreamlike existence. He often remarks on his tendency to stray, saying, “She keeps me in check; I’m prone to wandering off.” Despite her stern demeanour, Áine is simply keeping her pantheon in check. These relentless enforcers of the Malum pantheon seek to retrieve Dy’Fenn. This has turned his presence in the Weave into a fraught and dangerous journey, marked by encounters with both mortal dreamers and divine adversaries.   Dy’Fenn’s existence bridges two worlds—the ethereal realm of the Weave and his own distant plane of Malum. He is not a figure of dominion but of passage, a traveler who brings with him the promise of insight and the danger of disruption. Whether offering tinctures that grant fleeting rest or guiding mortals through the perils of their subconscious, Dy’Fenn the Dreamer leaves an indelible mark on all who meet him in their dreams.
