The Sha're Clinic
The clinic's creation was catalyzed by a chance encounter with Ace'so Sha're, otherwise referred to as Ace, and General Torgamund in the Trauma Ward of the Military Quarter. A failed punitive expedition, under the orders of General Torgamund, was forced to return to the city under withering losses due to an ambush by the rebels in Bal'muuth and Ace provided desperately needed assistance and on-the-go training to prevent further loss of life. For her service, General Torgamund lent Ace a property of his within the Dock's District on the condition that Ace would put it to use to continue saving lives. Throughout even the wee hours of the day, the sounds of alembics piping distilled solutions into beakers can be heard and under the crack of the front door a light that never seems to dim. Ace, knowing that nights in the Docks District are by far the most dangerous, keeps the clinic open at all times. She resolved that no soul would be lost for the trivial reason of sleep and has spent many sleepless nights paying that penitent bargain.
The single-story clinic is nestled within a small back alley of drooping houses in the Docks District of Mal'Tavresh. The small and unassuming building, marked solely by a small wooden sign nailed to the door, is dwarfed by the buildings that surround it. The looming and teetering multiple-floor constructs that rest precariously against the walls and on top of the clinic cast shadows throughout the street, never allowing more than a few trickles of sunlight to pierce into the alley. Unbecoming in its entirety, the clinic is still found by those with maladies in need of treatment. The Sha're Clinic name has spread like wildfire within the Docks District, as the clinic provides fair prices, quality service, and, perhaps its most well-known bargain, will not turn away those who are unable to afford treatment.
The alley that the clinic rests on is known as one of the few neutral zones within the district, no gang or cartel has been willing or brazen enough to break that unspoken agreement. Any and everyone can find aid, shelter, and recuperation time at the Sha're Clinic and those in need are not met with the prying questions that would be faced within any of the official medical establishments within Mal'tavresh, or their steep prices. The clinic has become a veritable hub within the Docks District and many of the denizens still remember and honor the work of Ace's grandmother who blazed the same trail that Ace now follows. The other buildings on the alley were purchased by those wishing to capitalize on the alley's neutral status. Commoner debate rings and salons branched out and a few private collectors proliferated a respectable library within its confines. As these changes began to take shape, the alleyway became a breeding ground for freethinkers and revolutionaries within the Docks District and one thing is certain, the Sha're Clinic has helped the people of this district beyond simple physical assistance it was mandated to provide.
