Feast of High Tide

The Feast of High Tide is held in every city belonging to the Hydraxxus Empire. The festival coincides with when the largest moon, Malath, hovers nearest to Galbuus. Festivals rage all across Galbuus during this period of time. The looming light of Malath bathes the world in a twilight glow that allows for the many activities to continue into the normally darkened night. The most bountiful sea fishing occurs during this period of time and the light of Malath allows for fishing vessels to set out to sea at all hours of the day as well as fish until their holds are full.    The Feast of High Tide, named for the swelling tides drawn by Malath, centers around the seafaring tradition of the Hydraxxus Empire. The festival represents the bounty of the sea, during the weeklong period where fish are most abundant in their waters, and the bounty of commerce as markets stretch through the streets. These markets are marked by unbelievably colorful fabrics, awnings, and pennants as well as brilliant sights of magical lights, fireworks, and performers. Sounds of laughter, discussions, and bartering fill the streets at nearly every hour of the day and the cities come alive. Fortunes have been made during these swells and money pours freely through the fingers of those within the cities that are capable of tapping, intriguing, and grasping it.   The fish markets become the centers of business during this period and the fringes of these fish markets tend to be the most profitable sections. The abundant supply reduces the price of fish to allow people of all backgrounds to purchase fish and the Empire ensures that all fish gone to market during this period of time are purchased. These purchases are salted and become a primary foodstuff of the Empire's land-based military forces.
