Pithyean Wilds
There are no large cities or city-states which are located in the Wilds, but smaller villages and collections of dwellings have cut out places to call home across the span of the Wilds. It is said there are ruins of an ancient civilization hidden deep in the forest, but none have found it thus far.
The Pithyean Wilds are home to a wide variety of creatures, from tiny Pithyean squirrels to the occasional Foghorn Toad that wanders in from the more sparse woodlands to the east. A subrace of Qattago, the Qattia, calls these temperate jungles home. Like their tropical cousins, they live in the forest canopy far above the often marshy soil. Lizardfolk are also common in this area, claiming wide swathes of the Wilds as their hunting grounds for wild game such as deer, boar, and elk.
The city-state of Pithyos, which sits east of the Wilds in a small valley between the Falpool Peaks, claims about half of the Wilds (which take their name from the city-state itself) as its territory, but has not ventured to settle the area. The ground is too marshy in areas to build proper foundations, and the trees too thick in others to warrant cutting away at the jungle. Long ago, the Pithyeans sought to build a great wall along their borders, but soon gave up after half the wall sank into the wet ground. The ruins of this wall are still visible in some areas, taken over by the wilderness but serving as a marker for where the Pithyean territory begins.
