Nissa Silverwort

Nissa Silverwort is a fae woman who lives in the Misty Pine Forest, on the banks of the Misty River. She is well known for her ability to seduce those who encounter her court.

The First Love

Like most fae, Nissa simply appeared one day. It is not clear when or where she was born, but sometime around AV 1300 she set up court in her current location. This court was discovered quite by accident around this time when an unsuspecting traveller accidentally stepped through the court's threshold and found himself face to face with a beautiful woman. Accounts of her appearance vary based on the encounter and they storyteller, but in this encounter it is commonly believed Nissa had long, silky dark dark and bright blue eyes. The traveller, of course, fell deeply in love with her. Nissa allowed the traveller to stay in the court, showering him with affection and favors as he lost track of the time that passed.

By the time he desired to return to his home and stepped back outside the fae court, much too long had passed. Arriving in his home village, he found that he recognized none of its inhabitants. Some seemed vaguely familiar, but none seemed to recognize him. Asking around, the traveller found that he had been gone one hundred years, though it felt like merely a cycle. He had not aged at all, but everyone he had known before he left had died. He continued wandering, telling his story in inns and taverns, telling of the beautiful enchantress who had stolen him away for a year. Thus the tale of Nissa Silverwort began.

Seduction

Nissa Silverwort is well known for being an enchantress and seductress. As a fae, she is detached from the concerns of those she views as mortals - the folk that she ensnares with her charm. To her, it seems to be a game. Nissa's court is disguised fairly thoroughly, such that it is nearly impossible for passerby to detect it and thus they are more likely to stumble into it. When they do, Nissa quickly assesses the intruder and deduces what kind of woman they might find most beautiful. Using a glamour spell, she transforms her appearance to resemble this kind of woman. With the help of a few charms, the intruder will, predictably, fall in love with her. This allows Nissa to easily manipulate them into staying with her in her court. The longer she can convince them to stay, the more satisfaction she gets from this game. Eventually, these spells will fade and her victims will remember themselves, deciding to return to the real world. This does not bother Nissa, as she never grows attached to the victims and already begins to think of the next game.

Legacy

Word of Nissa and her seductive ways spread across Qopith, growing each time someone returned from their stint in her court. When each one makes to leave the court, Nissa casts a spell of disorientation on them so they are unable to find their way back, or to describe the court's location to others. This has kept the threshold hidden for three hundred years. Of course, many who hear of her beauty wish to see her for themselves, despite the warnings of what happens when one enters a fae court. These searches are usually unsuccessful, but a select few have found it somehow before being spirited away into the fae court, cast out decades laterunable to describe where they had found the threshold.
