Jhalti Roughspike
A Friendly Reptilian
Standing around seven feet tall, and with a heavily muscled build, one would not have expected Jhalti to be such a peaceful creature. The blue, frilled lizardfolk appeared on the outer edges of Shadowmire sometime during the spring of BV 143. Met with the usual suspicion, Jhalti was chased back into the Glades, only for him to reappear again a few nights later. This process would repeat itself several times before the Shadowmirans let the lizardfolk be. Jhalti began to explore the city under careful supervision, and became enraptured with the day to day life of citizens. Oftentimes, one could find Jhalti standing a a shop window, watching the craftspeople work inside or admiring the finished products on display. Jhalti would stay for one or several days, feeding off scraps or gifts of food, before vanishing into the Glades for several more days.Jhalti visited Shadowmire for several decades, yet never once spoke a word of any understandable language. In such early times, no common folk had even attempted to study lizardfolk culture, much less learn Reptilian. Jhalti was the kind of oddity seen once every few hundred years, a novelty to the Shadowmirans who had never before come so close to a lizardfolk. While never really interacting with the other folk, Jhalti became the pride of Shadowmire. Visitors to the city would be led around the city's winding streets until they encountered Jhalti, gazing with curiosity at another wonder.
In BV 92, Jhalti stopped coming to Shadowmire. Many residents were saddened to think that the city's most unusual patron would no longer be seen along the cobbled streets. It is unknown what exactly happened to Jhalti, but many believe they simply died from old age. A statue of Jhalti sits in the center of Shadowmire's market square, a favorite attraction for Jhalti.
