Carrox Rider Core
The ground shakes beneath your feet, before the roars and snarls can be heard from the massive green scaled beasts. Behind them a cloud of dust is kicked up from the galloping hoard. Civirian riders fire their weapons into the enemy. And before the enemy can respond they've already disappeared into the wilderness. Only leaving behind corpses and destruction.
One of those beasts was the Carrox. A large four legged drake-like creature. It was native to this harsh world and had adapted to it, it had a strong build and thick scales. Perfect for hauling minerals. But these beasts were very hard to fully tame. And only a handful of people had gained the trust of a Carrox.
That all changed when Calantacore went up in flames because of a rebellion. Here the Carrox were used as cavalry and scouts as most vehicles either broke down to got stuck too many times to be considered reliable. Eventually Civiria managed to crush the rebellion but they saw the potential of the Carrox's and formed the Carrox Rider Core.
They are also trained in guerilla warfare and fighting behind enemy lines. Which is where they are used the most. Meaning that only the best can join the Carrox Riders. And it is a great honor to be able to join them on Calantacore.
And because the riders spend years training and fighting with their Carrox they usually form a tight bond. A bond that lasts a lifetime. A bond so strong that the other will not being able to continue when either the rider or Carrox dies. The surviver is usually not able to bond with a new rider or Carrox. When this happens the rider or the Carrox are retired back to Calantacore.
The Riders
Originating from a harsh desert world of Calantacore, the Carrox Rider core where originally miners. The world was a main exporter of steel that was used for Civirium. But the constant sand storms and harsh terrains where too much for the Civirian tech which proved very unreliable. Instead they started to use the local beasts for transportation.One of those beasts was the Carrox. A large four legged drake-like creature. Scaled Calvary
The Carrox Riders are used as skirmishers and scouts. Although they are cavalry they rarely charge into the enemy lines, for in this day and age they would get shredded by the enemy fire. Although it does happen once in a while and it can be surprisingly affective at times. But it certainly helps that both the rider and Carrox have well made protective armor. nevertheless they opt to use their Carrox for mobility. Moving form place to place to harass the enemy.They are also trained in guerilla warfare and fighting behind enemy lines. Which is where they are used the most. Meaning that only the best can join the Carrox Riders. And it is a great honor to be able to join them on Calantacore.

Whenever the rider has free-time or is at home they keep the Carrox as a pet of sorts. The empire provides the housing and money to be able to take care of the beast. And it isn't uncommon to see a rider take their Carrox out for a walk on Calantacore. Even when a rider retires they are still able to keep the Carrox. And many riders regard their Carrox as their best friend.

A Carrox is a large horse-sized lizard. It walks in four legs and has thick scales which can even withstand bullets. They have a stubby dragon-like with a mouthful of sharp teeth. Being a native species to such a harsh world they have adapted to be able to survive without food for months. And they are excellent predators which hunt in packs of 6 - 14.
