Red-Light

A Town Written in Passion and Blood

The large town of Red-Light was named as such for both literal reasoning -the town's lighting is red, for the purpose of energy conservation and night-time activity- and colloquial, metaphorical reasons. The town is essentially one large red-light district with strip clubs, prostitution rings and brothels around every corner; the people of Red-Light are the pinnacle of self-indulgence, as The Silence enforced on their cultural independance for millenia.

This affinity for raw, unbridled lust and the internal passions that lie with it are the first things to jar offworlders upon arrival and some circles employ a sort of hazing ritual for those who wish to stay for a while and indulge their own fantasies..

The entire settlement is tweaked and geared towards making the atmosphere as alluring as possible: the red streetlights, pinups in shop windows and the apparent absence of security forces focuses the senses on the pleasures that await.

Despite its appearances and design, the town is actually very systematic and secure. Its centre of governence -an organization called 'The Cabal' run the settlement in a very no-nonsense way. Unliscenced establishments and freelance sex-workers are detected by undercover agents posing as workers or business practitioners, then cracked down on quickly by the policing forces that remain vigilant over the streets, but hidden from the public eye.

Perhaps the only place free of the invasive advertisments that the planet has to offer is the spaceport that lies on the northeastern side of town and is visible from anywhere that can see over the buildings that line the streets. This spaceport is the centre of trade in Red-Light and its operation is necessary to the sustainability of the settlement. Rostgha has no hydrosphere of its own, and relies on imports of ice to support it.
