Demos
Demos was the main antagonist of the
Heretics resistance campaign. They are a fey creature created of the energy of fear. The type of fey they are is quite common but at some point long ago, Demos started to gain more and more of the energy.
the fey is created of the energy of fear, they started small and snowballed creating more creatures the same as him, equiping them with tiny magic items created of himself that can literally collect the energy of fear to give back to him. He slowly gained more and more magic power and had the true form grow bigger and more grotesque the bigger he got.
The true form had obsidian black skin, a human like face but stretched, in a shape similar to that of a hose. They walk on 4 arms that were long and stretched but human like, except for its clawed fingers. They had smaller arms along their ribcage and a mouth in their chest, the little arms would hold things down as that big mouth would absorb the fear of things, making Demos stronger.
Briefly when Demos absorbed the soul of Patience, he created a more humanoid form for himself though still somewhat grotesque, they did this because they felt it was more appropriate for a powerfull being like him.
The fey is an incredibly powerfull being at the height of his strength. He can use his fear energy to make people see their worst fears, paralyze them with fear or do the opposite: take all their fear away making them unafraid of any consequences at all. Fear has the ability to mess with dreams too, showing people fake visions this way. He can trap people in kind of fear coma's
At the height of his strength Demos could even use the mouth in his chest to not only absorb fear but also the souls of people.
Lastle Demos was able to give pieces of his power to his minions as proxies, allowing them to act while he couldn't leave the Otherworld.
In the otherworld Demos had become a powerfull enough fey that a domain had started to spring up around him. The Domain had many crystal like spikes from the ground and it was always dark, a thin black mist which makes seeing far impossible in it.
Demos was first encountered in the Otherworld first by the party which they managed to escape a close encouter with him. after they were also encountered in the main plane, as they revealed they manipulated the witchhunters to summon them to the main plane, using their minions to plant false prohecies through nightmares in the head of a monk. which then gave that prophecy to the witchhunters who bought it. He was defeated by the party. but not before absorbing the soul of patience, which Demos still has.
When being defeated, Demos didn't die, rather losing all the fear energy he'd built up which made him to powerfull fey creature he had become. In that form he can't do a lot, even while holding the soul of wrath (the sin version of the patience soul).
Demos might return if he gains more fear energy again, though i'd certainly take 100's of years. Or he might just be sought out and killed by somebody seeking the virtue souls.
