The founding hero of Somiochr and the Rilgan people as a whole, Mairgwen is a legendary figure whose magical prowess is believed to be unsurpassed by any who have come before or since.

While her history is shrouded in mystery and unreliable myth, the sorceress Mairgwen is a patron hero of the Rilgan people. To Rilgan’s, Mairgwen is the reason that their culture survived the disasters of the Titanic Age, and the source of their magical supremacy in the continent.   Mairgwen’s magical ability was legendary, and even today, almost six thousand years later, her name is synonymous with arcane prowess. It is believed that she was once outcast from her native society, the human Somiarii tribe, who at the time were suspicious of arcane practitioners. But as the surging waves and colossal storms caused by the clash of Ceris and Grotnmandyr threatened to drown them all, it was Mairgwen’s magic that saved them all from destruction.   Afterwards, she was heralded a hero and the Somiarii and neighboring tribes. Mairgwen herself had no ambitions towards leadership, instead dedicating herself to tutoring a select number of individuals she trusted to inherit her knowledge and carry her philosophies and ideals governing magic. Eventually, over time and down through the generations, this magical knowledge would spread and become the defining quality of leadership and authority in the lowlands. As such, Mairgwen is without a doubt the matriarch of what would become the Rilgan magocracy.
