Acolyte
The lowest rank in the west Calophesian religious hierarchy that is still officially part of a priesthood. Above an officient as they have officially been sworn into the priesthood they serve, however below a priest and cleric as the have not completed the ritual demonstrating their ability to commune with the divine. The name and form of this ritual differs depending on the deity. An acolyte are also considered to be equal to a paladin who has not yet sworn an oath.
The specific title given to a person of this rank can also depend on the denomination they belong to, although they are all commonly referred to as 'acolyte'.
