This is the story that ends the saga of Gaiaren, and begins the sagas of the Graelverse. The characters introduced here may or may not survive into the stories that follow. The setting is the ten thousandth year of Gaiaren's existence, and the world is coming to an end.      The world has gone mad. Cataclysmic events have been increasing in destructive capacity for the better part of a century, beginning with the advent of the 'Blood Realm'. What remains of Calphus has fallen under military rule, and the even the most stalwart of Gaiaren's people fear the end of days has beset them at last. What remains of a governing structure in this new era of disorder searches desperately for an answer to the growing crisis, to no avail. Fire rains from the skies and earthquakes split apart mountains. Nations engage in all out warfare, desperately believing their enemies to be responsible for the state of the world.   Meanwhile, several key players in the coming apocalypse find themselves face-to-face with destiny's call. The Savior of Calphus, Angel Hallier, has received new intelligence regarding the cultist group that ended her father's life during the great Siege of Demons. A route to their secluded city has been discovered in the mountainous border that once separated Auwar and Neukestria. Angel and her remaining loyal soldiers move immediately to finally put an end to those who would summon such unimaginable horrors to Gaiaren.   A monk of the Sacren Order, tasked with discovering the truth of the leyline fluctuations in the Northeast Tribelands, stumbles upon a trio of elemental sorcerers. They have been stricken to the ground and bear all signs of a desperate battle, but yet still live. Upon being healed, the mages tell of demons manifesting on the world's surface. The say the great hordes of hell have finally come to end all things.   A playful forest nym wanders into a trap set by a researcher and her companions. As they are all set upon by demons, the avatar of the very protector of Dralfor comes to the rescue, and the lot of them set upon a journey to discover the fate of a lost expedition into a hidden underground temple. Clearly not built by man, the temple's mysteries and dangers surely must have gotten the better of the original expedition. Or have they?   In the coastal city of Raskham, a gang of youths that operates on the broken streets of a once proud port town discovers a shimmering wall of reality on the outskirts of the town, and sets about exploring it. Just as they begin to learn its secrets, and the true destination that it leads to, Portals open in massive eruptions all around their city. Demons spew forth, slaying everything in sight, overpowering the already decimated city guard in moments. The group daringly dives back into the city to rescue their friends and hole up in their gang's quickly erected safe house, and bravely waits for their opening to escape the massacres outside.   On a dirt path in the middle of nowhere, someone walks slowly. The someone has no idea where he's going, only that he's being called. The music, the sweet music draws him onwards. A portal opens before him and he is beset by demons, but he has no time for such things. Moments later, the portal closes for good, and someone walks on, slowly.
