The Cetrous Void in Gaia | World Anvil

The Cetrous Void

It is rumored that Gaia lays within dimensions of several planes. The Cetrous Void is one such plane. But this world; its different than most planes. It is the ruins of what appears to be a planet or realm, that circles a massive and ever growing Black Hole Spiral of pure chaos and anti-magic.
"The Cetrous Void....what is it? They have these...access points that appear to be alien-like monoliths streaming with void magic. What did the Ancients do to this world?"
~Scholar Lakhil Migie, "The Void"

Voidic Anchors

Void Anchors are structures that are said to manifest out of nowhere using materials around them to dig deep into Gaia's Crust to anchor something. It is presumed these Void Anchors are anhcoring the Cetrous Void from being sucked into oblivion and destroyed. This means that this Cetrous Void has a sentient intelligent life that is beyond comprehension, even to the combine.   These arrive with great fanfare as dimensional walls are shattered and broken. the land rends and twists into a very alien terrain, as if the Anchor radiates like a poison. The radiation of these anchor points does seem to have a limit however to about a mile around the said anchor.
"It's like an infection from a wound that has pierced our skin. This alien world, is what is on the other side, it seems to be destroying itself, why else would these anchors appear? Its as if the denizens of the other side are grasping to live, at the expense of everyone on -this- side."
~Hazzis Qetzec of Sassliss
The anchors usually appear when 'void' storms occur in the area, where choas and void energy is released at such a volume, that the mortal world is unable to adapt to the exotic nature of the Cetrous Void.   The Adventurer's guild assists with the closure of these said anchors if they are caught too close to a civilized region. It is however recommended that only top-tier veterans attend and in parties. The void has unknown magic and life, it usually sends a scholar with the adventuring parties that elect to raid a Void Anchor. It is also not uncommon to see national militaries raid anchors as well that get too close. However the survivors of these raids are often left confused, dazed in in some sort of state of chaos when they return home.
