Crucible Maker

A crucible is a vessel used in metal foundry namely melting metals. The crucible itself is made of clay and graphite although it is mainly made of graphite. It is the graphite that ensures it will be able to stand up to high temperatures. It is the job of the crucible maker to make these crucibles.   Crucible Makers were historically known as Cupel Makers [1]. They changed the name in The Between Years as to make the job title more obvious as to know what the job does.

Levels

As with every Dual Position and Extra Employment profession they have levels. In which the manufacturing of the item is broken down into steps so that each level does a part of the manufacturing process. In some of these professions, the job level goes up when the complexity is.

Level 1

A level 1 crucible maker processes the materials. At the starting stage, it is ensuring that the clay has no air bubbles and have no debris. When this has been ensured the clay is weighed to and given to a Level 2 Crucible maker.   It is the same with the graphite in which the level 1 crucible maker wears a mask as the graphite is in powdered form and is weighed, again this is given to the crucible maker.

Level 2

The level 2 crucible maker rechecks the weights and knows how many of each crucible they need to make. Knowing this they can make bigger batches of the end material for the Level 3 crucible maker.

Level 3

A level 3 crucible maker, mixes the two parts to make the end material they are also the person who uses a two part mould to make the crucible.

Level 4

A level 4 crucible maker fires those moulds into the end product.

Level 5

The level 5 crucible maker does the quality check of the fired crucibles and is the one who packs the new crucibles to be sold at a Warehouses .
