Hvisla Fjord

In a remote section of the fjords that surround Skitterfjord lies one area the brazen pirates dare not sail. The Hvisla Fjord has been the bane of ships that pass into its maw. Captains that have made it through hear the voices from the water whispering to them, sometimes calling out directly. The voices never appear when the ships enter the fjord whether on purpose or by accident. They wait until they have almost reached the narrows on the way out of the bowl at the end. It seems almost like a cruel game to allow those to see what they are approaching before causing the fog to fall and lead them towards disaster.   The voices don't sing sweetly or try to lure anyone with promises of treasure they simply confuse those who travel the waters. Sometimes it is simple helm commands to those that try to navigate the fjord putting the ships into danger. Other times the calls are for help, or are warning of danger to put those not on watch on edge. The waters teem with life and all those that sail swear that they have heard the voices from within the holds of their own ship.   Those ships that have been lost to the frigid waters rarely perish as some force pulls or pushes them from the waters itself towards the steep rainforest. This allows them to scramble miserably outwards and upwards with nothing but their wits to get them out and hopefully signal another ship. All the while echoes of keeling laughter echo in the Hvisla.

Geography

The Hvisla Fjord has a rather large mouth that enters into a long narrow waterway banked on the northern side by steep cliffs and to the south a nearly vertical rainforest of conifers prevent any from landing. It ends in a larger bowl  with a large glacier fed waterfall making it appear as a paradise.
