The Wultan Ascended

Ascended

The Ascended were the shining pride of the Wultan Empire, they were just as illustrious as Mercy's Daughters, Chumane's Aids, or Eastlands' Murans. They were powerful and carried the will of the Empire. Even among the four old countries: the Wultan Empire, The Artino Legion, Apta Collective, and the ArĂle Empire; The Ascended were counted as the strongest fighting force of their Era. However even with all of their power, they were not enough to save the Wultan Empire from calamity.

Rune Magic

The Wultan Empire had perfected three kinds of magic during its height of power, Alteration, Chronomancy, and Runic Magic. Their rune crafting was unparalleled, and even in the present times none have truly matched their work or can even wield it properly. The most advanced of these were the Runes of Power, runes powerful enough to affect even the Gods, and the most potent among these was the Rune of Soul. This Rune was implanted upon the very soul of a subject, and it is what truly made subjects 'Ascended'. This rune gave them massive amounts of control over their own soul and what it can inhabit. This also gave them functional immortality, as they could not age normally, aswell as making it easier for the Ascended to use the other Runes of Power with little to no duress at all, and even giving them access to conventional magic if they did not have it before. The Runes of Power were so potent that even the effects of anti magic fields or things of a similar nature had no effect on them, making them a versatile tool in any situation. These runes' potential was so great that they had created them so that only a limited amount of the Runes of Soul existed, and they could only be handed down from one user to another, or placed upon specially made scrolls. Though, the Rune of Soul had one major set back, It made the bearer incredibly fragile. The strain placed upon their physical body because of the rune's ever present effects left the Ascended frail and not suitable for combat by themselves, however, Wultan used their technology to create the perfect solution to this problem.

The Blade

The Wultan Empire had made dozens of extremely powerful golems during their height to protect their cities and interest. They had used the techniques from their creations to develop the Ascended's most important and powerful tools: The Blades. The Blades were highly intricate golems that were far smaller than the ones used to protect their cities, making them about the same size as most humanoid races. With technology and forging techniques stolen from the Apta Collective, they made each Blade as sturdy and powerful as possible, and included special Wultan Runes making them capable of becoming stronger and using unique abilities to make them more dangerous. However they had made the Blade so packed with advancements that they had no way to actually power these special golems, until they learned that with that right pairing rune, the Ascended could possess these golems and control their unique powers aswell. After the Wultan Empire discovered this, they made a Blade for each of their Ascended, customized for each of them.

A Modern Ascended

While the Ascended and their specific cultrure and practices were destroyed when the Empire fell, the Atreati were tasked with saving any and all culture relating to the Empire, and a few of them were even sealed away with scrolls containing a Rune of Soul aswell as the necessary knowledge to find a dormant Blade or make one themselves. Though since most Atreati perished in one way or another, these scrolls were lost to time or forgotten, waiting to be discovered by those that could use the rune to protect themselves, their family, or acquire power beyond their own means.

The health for a Blade is rolled normally, but only the physical stats are rolled for, while the mental stats remain at one. For thee purposes of healing, Blades count as constructs and can not be healed through normal means, however spells/abilities would also affect the Blade in a similar manner. They can also be healed by an Ascended/Blade abilities that mentions 'Healing'. While inhabiting the Blade, an Ascended is immune to mental effects (this does not include sensory magic such as auditory illusions or spells such as Screen). Blades remain inactive when not inhabited by an Ascended, and can be damaged while inactive. The Blade can be repaired after reaching 0 HP by taking 1 full hour of free time to get it back to working order or use the appropriate abilities/spells to bring it above half its maximum health. A Blade can not be completed destroyed through normal means, and can only be fully destroyed with Divine Weapons, Disintegrate, or a Wish spell.   Ascended Frailty
The health of the Ascended is 4d4 + constitution bonus. Then add one 1d4 per level. Any weapon feats learned by them only apply while inside their blade   Rune of Power: Soul

This will act as a 'Blink' spell and not invoke any attacks of opportunity. Inhabiting your Blade can be done from any distance and without line of sight   Runes of Power
You can invoke a rune of power while outside the Blade. Every Rune is a bonus action   Refurbished Blade
While outside of the Blade, the you can repair it for 1d10+ wisdom bonus, this can be done as many times as the wisdom bonus per short rest   Runic Weapon

If the weapon is ranged, it will generate its own ammunition as needed   Runic Binding

Inhabiting in this manner can last up to 5 days, but sentient creatures can retry their roll every 24 hours. While inhabiting sentient creatures, their consciousness is completely suppressed, you have access to all of their abilities and spells, but none of their memories, Their are few beings in existence that are not susceptible to this, even the Divines are not immune.

Meta

The Ascended's spell slots work as a Warlocks would. 1 max spell slot per level. Each spell uses spell slots equal to its spell level. Spell Slots recharge after each encounter, or within 1 minute outside of combat   The Spell list that the Ascended chooses from is decided by their Blade subclass   Unless characters are told, there is no way for anyone but yourself to know that you are anything but a warforged while inside the Blade
