Skunion

Acrid Layers Florabeast

Florabeast planters often give their partners affection, just like they would with an animal: scratching behind the ears of a Hore-hound, rubbing down a Canterose at the end of a long work day, or letting a Purrsnip rub up against your legs when it feels like it. Those brave and stout souls who choose to plant the Skunion, however, think twice about such things.

Covered in a papery layer of skin, Skunions are one of the toughest Florabeasts around, and also one of the most versatile. Providence deigned to have their most distinctive feature reversed from their animal counterpart, granting them the capability of spraying a caustic stream of liquid from their open mouths. This substance immediately irritates the skin, eyes, and noses of any creature it contacts, whether that be animal, man, or Florabeast. The effects of the oil wear off over time, and can be lessened with a bath in tomato juice or milk.

Enterprising and creative planters have also discovered that the spray from a Skunion is somewhat flammable, and a match held in front of their mouths can transform them into a spectacular weapon. For this reason nearly every posse of Gast Hunters includes at least one or two Skunions in their ranks.

Name Explanation
The 'un' sound in skunk matches the on- sound in onion. Also, both the animal and the vegetable have irritating, caustic qualities, so it seemed like a perfect fit.
