Canterose

Thorny Steed Florabeast

Few Florabeasts are as beloved and iconic as the Canterose. Their wide range of colors has inspired generations of breeders to refine and enhance the brilliance of their blooms, as well as the strength of their thorny hooves. An excellent mode of personal transportation, Canterose can cross less ground than a horse per day, but only require a shady spot near water to replenish their stamina overnight. It might have been possible for them to replace horses altogether, were it not for their unwillingness to let anyone other than their planter ride them.

The outer hide of a Canterose is made up of thick bark-like material, interspersed with long, sharp thorns. Providence seemed to know that these beasts would one day carry riders, as no thorns grow on their backs or necks. The colorful petals that they are famous for grow in place of a mane, and on long vines in place of a tail.
