The War of Wrath and Salt was the human slave rebellion and the following war of retribution against the Panthera. Led by a charismatic slave leader, who slowly built up a loyal resistance within his region. This slow rise quickly exploded into a full fire when the provincial lord cracked down and attempted to arrest this slave leader. His followers rose up in resistance, and using their tools of labor to resist the small Panthera guard. With this flash point the slaves knew a war was coming, so they commited to liberating the other slaves within the region and organized into a loose army. It was a startling realization to the hymans, that they vastly outnumbered the Panthera.Despite the disparity in strength the men were quickly gaining ground. With each battle the hymans took severe losses but were still winning ground. With each victory the men seized weapons, armor, and the materials of war. Having secured the mines, quarries and some of the farm lands, the rebels dug in and called for aid. A slave messenger hidden aboard a Panthera bound for Athera.
The human rebels held their small territory in a fairly quiet period while they waited for the Atherans response. Using skirmishing tactics and hit and run they slowly rallied and liberated additional slaves. They held their ground, with their improvised weapons. When the Atheran’s arrived, the rebels were shocked by their response. A vast fleet appeared, carrying the might of the Atheran Legion. More than just soldiers the Atheran’s brought weapons, armor, and food. Sharing these desperately needed supplies with the rebels, now freshly resupplied and reinvigorated the rebels became emboldened. Receiving training from the Atheran’s the rebel army rapidly became a competent fighting force. Under the leadership of the experienced Atheran commanders the war quickly turned from survival to winnable fight. The siege of _ is considered the turning point of the war. With the overwhelming force of the combined Rebel and Atheran army the siege was short, and the city quickly falling to human forces. Inspired by the force outside the walls the slaves within rose up, opening the gates in the dead of night and letting in the armies of men. Having driven the Panthera from the city the humans quickly moved to secure the region.
Word spread quickly as Panthera refugees arrived at the other cities, and human agents infiltrated other populations. The Panthera fearing a mass revolt responded harshly and swiftly. The crackdown only served the rebels, sparking revolts across the empire. With the Pantheran army spread thin, they ceded the countryside to the rebels, in favor of defending the cities. With freedom to move freely about the countryside the Rebels harrased Pantheran supply lines, and closed in about the cities. At this point the rebels had made it clear they sought to destroy the Panthera. The Atheran’s then pulled their supporat, as the Marshal wouldn’t support genocide. However the rebels no longer dependent on the Atherans, and continued the war with little impact.
The Conflict
Prelude
The war started slowly, after generations of abuse by their Panthera masters the Humans had grown angry and were ready for change. All they needed was a leader, and cause. That came with a man they called the Unbroken, a charasmatic and dedicated man who spoke of a better life. It took him decades of being beaten for his every word to rally supporters to his cause. This quiet discontention came to the Pantheran attention, and they attempted to move against this man. When they came for him, they sent few guards and the men about him rallied to his defense. Even as he spoke, asking them to stand down to preserve themselves. This man had not realized that his voice had spread so far and that his people were ready to stand by him. His followers cast down the Pantheran guards using their tools of toil for their own purpose for the first time. Seizing a few weapons the flash point had come, war would be coming.
