Aiyana | Аийяна

Aiyana is an Avianos with a Harpy bird head from an obscure Native American tribe that mysteriously vanished at some point after European colonization. She fits quite nicely in the modern world. She's an alchemist and a healer, and serves in these capacities at the Bureau of Temporal Investigations.

Physical Description

Body Features

Aiyana, like all Avianos, looks like a mix between a human and a bird. From the latter, she has the head, feathers across the whole body, and, most importantly, big white wings that let her fly, though not over very long distances. All other features are of a human origin.

Авиане выглядят как смесь птицы и человека, и Аийяна не исключене. От пернатых у неё голова, перья по всему телу и, что самое главное, два огромных крыла, благодаря которым она может летать, хоть и не слишком далеко. Всё остальное у неё от человека.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

She keeps her story mostly to herself. She's not very chatty overall, and prefers not talking about herself, about her relatives and if she even misses them. Once Sesostris asked her, what tribe did she belong, and she just briefly told: "Сroatoan". The tone used in her reply discouraged any further inquiries.

Авианка редко рассказывает что-либо о себе. Она вообще не разговорчива, предпочитает не распространяться о своей личности, родственниках или даже о том, скучает ли она по своим вообще. Однажды Сесострис спросил её, какого она роду-племени? Аийяна лишь тихо заметила - "Кроатонка я", причём таким тоном, что никому не захотелось расспрашивать её дальше.

Education

Aiyana's talent in healing comes from what is called "traditional medicine". During travels, she tends to keep to the forest and spends her downtime collecting herbs and experimenting with potions. She knows forests well, at least ones that grow in continental climate.

Employment

Before being picked up from history by Sesostris, Aiyana roamed the wilderness and nobody really understands what she used to do. Now she's employed at the Bureau of Temporal Investigations. When there isn't a mission on, she lives in their office in Zurich and keeps it in relative order. When she feels like it.

Intellectual Characteristics

There are some examples in history of people, though initially being isolated from the society, when introduced to it, becoming very prominent members of it. Nobody really expected Aiyana to adapt to XXI century that fast. In just two short month with the help of Sesostris and Remy she caught up with the general flow of global history, learned how to fare well in modern society, at least where there wasn't many social activity involved. She became literate and studied a lot about modern theology as well, mostly using Fringe Society materials. Additionally, Aiyana has learned how to use computers and the Internet.

В истории полно примеров людей, что первую часть своей жизни были очень изолированы, но стоило им обрести свободу и попасть в общество, они расцветали. Никто не ожидал, что девушка так быстро вникнет в происходящее в XXI веке. С помощью Сесостриса и Реми она всего за два месяца наверстала мировую историю, стала грамотной, выучилась основам жизни в современном обществе, по крайней мере тем, для которых не надо было быть социально активным. Она также посвятило время изучению теологии, в основном, по материалам Общества Грани. Аийяна также освоила компьютеры и интернет.

Morality & Philosophy

Being, as they call it among Sci Fi fans, "uplifted" in such a short term might have left some scarring on Aiyana. She always was rather cynical even before moving to 2020 Europe, but after her intense studies she has developed a certain way of going about things that was a tad misanthropic. She's mostly calm, reserved and not very social, but subjects may arise that make her angry or enthusiastic to the point of fanaticism. She's not really ambitious, and sometimes her needs do not exceed basic ones, like eating or sleeping. And she is also quite lazy: she can't (or won't) make herself do anything if she doesn't really want it, and her real effort is used only if it will potentially relieve her of making such an effort in the future.

Она и до переезда в Европу 2020 года была довольно циничной, а после такого сильного напряжения, как то, чему её подверг Сесострис при возвращении в Цюрих, она даже немного стала мизантропом. Она обычно ведёт себя спокойно и сдержанно, старается много не общаться, но бывает такое, что её может что-то прямо разъярить, или заинтересовать так, что аж даже до фанатизма. Она не амбициозна, редко думает о чём-то кроме базовых потребностей - поесть да поспать. Стала ленивой: редко заставляет себя что-либо делать, если нет прямо сильного желания на это. Если уж она решает поднапрячься, она сделает это лишь чтобы больше себя подобным не напрягать.

Motivation

In times of relaxation and consumption of lots of liquior, Aiyana starts going on about how she wishes there was something that would let here just cure any illness, like a panacea. She was most fascinated of stories about the Philosopher's Stone when she learned about it.

Когда Айияна расслабляется или оказывается в ситуации, где много пьют, она часто вслух мечтает о некоей субстанции, что может помочь победить любые хвори. Об эдакой панацее. Особенно нравились ей истории про философский камень, что она успела прочитать за короткий срок обучения.

Social

Religious Views

As an historical Inhuman, being not really informed about monotheism in the beginning, Aiyana allows for existence of multiple deities and she's always ready to find the ways to appease them. In her opinion, local gods can make all the difference in her travels, so they should be happy with the Bureau in order for them to succeed in their endeavors. She imagines them to take various animalistic forms, like a turtle or an eagle, and she thinks they sometimes visit her dreams.

Speech

As previously mentioned, Aiyana doesn't talk much. Additionally, human languages are a bit harder to articulate for the Avianos, so one needs to really get used to being around her to comprehend her. When Aiyana speaks, she uses short sentences. Usually sarcastic ones.

Как уже упоминалось ранее, Айяна не особо много разговаривает. В дополнение к этому, человеческие языки не так то уж легко даются авианам, и чтобы привыкнуть к её произношению, надо с ней довольно много общаться. The Ayks, like many Native Americans, fell victim to a host of diseases brought by Europeans to the New World. Aiyana's tribe was no exception. That is why, having got into the 21st century, she first of all made inquiries about what diseases humanity cannot cope with. She quickly realized that a cancer drug would make her famous and wealthy. Where to find him? Certainly not in test tubes and petri dishes, she decided. The problem in the Medieval world was not the impossibility of healing with magic, it was, albeit on a limited scale. The problem was logistics and slow communications. By the time a powerful healer reached a city that reported a plague infection, this city had already managed to get sick and burn more than half of its population, who died from a terrible disease. But magic really helped to cope with diseases, so a cure for cancer should have been sought not in an indefinite future, but in the past, preserved in the form of some artifacts ...

Но магия действительно помогала справляться с болезнями, так что лекарство от рака следовало искать не в неопределённом будущем, а в прошлом, сохранённом в виде каких-нибудь артефактов...
