duststone Material in Frale Tides - Time of the Blue | World Anvil

duststone

Dust's stone landscape is everchanging.   The very ground is living, and the stone grows no matter how much it may be removed or destroyed.   As it grows naturally in the Dust, it can become weak and break off, where Bridgeform tend to collect the resource. Once it falls off naturally, the speed where it continues to grow slows down to an eighth of what it originally was.   Because it's so abundant, the Maincities are mostly built of it, namely the pillars that hold a town as well as the Frale Districts and Commonform's Districts. Bridge Stonehouse get their name as its constructed entirely off of the stone.   It is a heavy stone and hard to work with, but its abundancy makes it a common and an important building material. Similar to the deadly deadstone, both Humane and Frale blood acts as a sort of extraordinary fertilizer of sorts that makes the stone from the Dust grow. However, when detached from the source and covered in Stogrow Plaster the growth of duststone is minimal. A quick hammer and sanding can fix most small growth.   Because viable wood is hard to find, the stone is seen as something for lower classes to use. It requires a good amount of maintenance, and in some cities its paid for by the taxes of the people, while other locations the people are expected to have their own plaster for themselves.
"Could you imagine living somewhere without the dusty stone? I hate working in a butchers shop in this city."
-irritated commonform

"When do you imagine our district will get some Stogro? The stone streets hurt to walk on, the building walls are reaching the street! Do you plan to let us drown in stone!"
-desperate frale
