The motivation behind building Fortis

I'm interested in fantasy ecosystems... exobiology for the imagination, I guess? The idea of worldbuilding is appealing to me because it's fun to imagine how a different world, with different laws of physics, geology/terrain, ecosystems, and so forth could form wildly different ecosystems and economies than our world. With the idea of extraterrestrial life becoming more and more accepted at this point in human history, I think there's an intrinsic value in stretching the limits of one's mind and imagination by considering extreme alternatives to what we consider a "normal" (or even feasible) world.

The goal of the project

I enjoy writing and keep getting distracted by other things like watching videos and messing around on my phone. There's much better ways to spend my time, such as creating something, and WorldAnvil is a great help for that. I recently dropped the money on a lifetime Grandmaster subscription, in hopes that I'd also feel compelled to "get my money's worth". I'd already been using WA for a while on an annual subscription and I knew I really enjoyed using the software. Also, for some reason, having metrics like word counts and the occasional goal-oriented monthly events really help my motivation a lot.

Fortis's Unique Selling point

There's a cool system of magic that comes out of a really complex mythology that kinda crosses over into true history more than the current inhabitants realize.
