The Continent of Moradin

"Once the domain of Moradin the Red Tyrant, no more." All Father to Lyn after he stood above the degrading corpse of Moradin the Red.

Geography

The supercontinent of Moradin is large and dominates most maps of the Known World. It is the largest continent in the known World with the most livable area. With an estimated population of 500 million individuals and an area of 4,800,000 mi² and is the second most northern continent of the Known World.   Surrounded by water, Moradin is bordered by the Lynian Expanse and the Sea of Gods to the East. The Sea of Ghosts and the Black Waters to the North. The Fell Sea to the West and the Reach to the South. The northern half of Moradin is densely populated in comparison to the rest of the continent and covered mostly by Lynia. The central and southern parts of the continent are controlled by Sidion.   Natural features of Moradin include the Razorback Mountains to the West of Lynia and the Dragonfall Mountains to the North. Coming together to form the Moradin Cordillera. The Cordillera also extends across the terminus of Lynia. Seperating the desert lands of Sidion from the rest of the Moradin continent. The northern part of Moradin is host to many rivers and lakes that allow for fertile ground and healthy deep forests. Also rocky mountains and vast gorges yielding raw ores and precious metals are numerous as they are plentiful.   Climate is largely determined by lattiude with arctic like temperatures in the extreme north and more tropical extremes in the south. The Northern portion of the continent - where Lynia rests - enjoys more temperate and wetter climates than the rest of the continent because of it's cradling between three mountain ranges. Deserts are prevalent in the southern portion of Moradin and more recently in the place of Doristan - South of the Savage Lands. The Savage Lands themselves are an enigma to scholars and geographers because they seem to be a teeming rainforest of tropical life while also possessing mountains with ice capped peaks.

Fauna & Flora

Moradin is home to many species of native mammal species. Several species of deer including Elk and White-tailed Deer. Several subspecies of Bear and Wolf are also fully represented. Other carnivores such as Raccoons and cats are present as well, such as Lynx, Cougar or Mountain Lions, Lions, and Hyenas. Numerous types of prey species are also found on the continent, rat, mouse, beaver and squirrel are numerous and diversified throughout the continent in corresponding environments.   Plant life on Moradin is as diverse as the presence of animals. They are distributed around the continent in various environments. Indigenous arctic temperature plants and trees such as mosses, Coniferous evergreens (Pines, Spruce, Firs, and Hemlocks) are found in the colder areas of the continent. The more temperate climates produce hardwoods in varied amounts in relation to the Sidion desert. Cultivated plants such as Indigo, Tobacco, Corn, and Potato are also thriving in Northern Moradin.

Natural Resources

The Razorback Mountain region is known for its vast resources and rich mineral deposits such as iron, gold, platinum, lead, and silver. As well as the mineral fuel source of coal. Precious metals such as copper, silver, and gold are found in high quantities within the mountains of Moradin. Making the continent one of the wealthiest in the Known World.
