Valleverde
Valleverde is a sunlit, rustic valley of vineyards and golden fields, ruled by three masked archfey known collectively as The Vintners.
Signore Vellorin — Master of Spirits: Tall, elegant, masked in silver. His domain is distilled temptation: brandy, grappa, absinthe, liquors that burn and reveal. He steals ambition, drive, clarity, charity, self control. He is the most politically savvy of the three.
Signora Amaranthine — Mistress of Wines: Tall, graceful, masked in gold. Her wines are legendary — sweet, dry, sparkling, still. She steals romance, hope, joy, longing. She is the most seductive and the most dangerous.
Master Bronti — Keeper of Ales and Stouts: Shorter, broad shouldered, masked in copper. His brews are hearty, comforting, deceptively simple. He steals courage, loyalty, compassion, contentment, restraint. He is the most underestimated — and the most cruel.
The Vintners lure mortals into the valley in a variety of ways. Once there, temptation is set before them as a trap to justify stealing valuable emotions from mortals, which the Vintners use in their finest beverages. The rule is, give into temptation, and they take the part of you that you treated carelessly. Give into lust, lose your sense of romance. Give into greed, lose your sense of charity. Mortals who resist temptation leave with a little fey gift in the form of mild curses. Display courage, become reckless; demonstrate charity, give until you are poor. The Vintners consider it harmless fun.
