Idyllglen

Along the Chionthar River between Elturel and Baldur's Gate, Idyllglen is a sleepy fishing village happy to let their neighbors deal hustle and bustle and deal with the larger worries of the world.

History

Few not local to the Elturgard region would know of it except perhaps as a footnote in history. In the tenth century Dalereckoning, Elturgard was beset by demonic incursions, overrun with gnolls and others within the legions of Yeenoghu. Idyllglen, in particular, was assaulted by gnoll forces on three distinct occassions. Each time, a hero rose to fight back the tide, leading the villagers to secure their own survival. These figures are celebrated in the center of the village and the village constructed a temple to the Triad of Tyr, Helm, and Torm in gratitude and recognition of their divine role in saving the city on each occasion.

Prominent Locations

  Temple of the Triad
Far more modest than the temples of Baldur's Gate or Elturel, the temple is a wooden structure in the center of town. The temple is built of wide, rough-hewn wooden beams of dark woods with tall arched windows, three along each side. Inside, two small rows of pews face a simple altar and lectern.   Guardians of the Faith
In the courtyard in front of the temple in the middle of a circular garden of neatly trimmed shrubs and winter flowers stands a stone statue of two figures. The first is a woman with long, wild hair in unadorned armor raising a sword into the sky defiantly, her face a visage of resolve and nobility. Behind her, an angelic figure also raises a sword to the sky, her feathered wings extending around her and the knight in front of her. Despite their similar poses, the two statues appear to be of slightly different stone and age.   The Idle Fin
Attached to the docks, this local eatery serves warm drinks, hearty stews, and prides themselves on the freshest fish this side of Chionthar. Operated and owned by the halfing couple Fayelle and her husband Xoric.
