Beelz joined the wizard's school of Dweomercore, led by an arcanoloth who masqueraded as Halaster Blackcloak. Beelz competed in the Wizard's tourney and won, claiming an apprenticeship with Halaster (the real one) as his prize. The party also got the Netherese ritual book needed by the Harpers in Skullport.

Joined the wizard school of Dweomercore. The sorting hat placed Beelz in the defunct House Kestellharp. The party attended classes taught by the faculty, including one of Halaster Blackcloak's original apprentices, Nester. Another of the apprentices, Arcturia, arrived as a guest lecturer. Her lecture was on the topic of transfiguring creatures. Her subjects were the horribly deformed individuals of the Cheeky Pluckers.   While taking classes the party found Skrianna's Diary, which detailed the dangerous plots of that noble house.   They also found statues for the Seven Apprentices of Halaster, including one of Muiral. Its inscription read: "Muiral the Misshapen: Bodyguard and later apprentice to the Mad Mage. His descent to madness ended in this grotesque form. His Gauntlet in the bowels of Undermountain have claimed many a soul. The only thing that can end his curse is to view his own form in a mirror."   Eventually, the Headmaster declared that the Wizard's Tournament would begin. Beelz entered the tournament (see tourney entry for details) and ultimately won the contest. He was rewarded with an apprenticeship to Halaster, along with Halaster's Spare Grimoire.
