Imperial Navy

The Imperial Navy is the primary space combat service of the Third Imperium, providing internal security from pirates and smugglers, and external security from hostile foreign powers. The Imperial Navy began it's life as the Naval Service of the Sylean Federation and has been a part of the Imperium since its foundation. The Navy has fleets throughout Imperial space and they work closely with the Colonial Navies in each subsector and system to provide security. The Imperial Navy deploys extra Fleet resources to areas that are threatened by hostile forces or are likely to be site of war erupting between the Imperium and foreign powers.
Them Imperial Navy works very closely with Imperial Marines. The Marines provide ship's companies for boarding actions and shore parties, as well as security of Naval bases and installations. Marines can also supply trained troops to man ship's weapons. The Navy and Mafrines work most closely in providing transport and drop capabilities to Marines landing on hostile worlds, as well as regtrieval, in the case of raids, or supply and orbital artillery when establishing a landing beachhead for occupation.
