Esterson Session 9
Roden Horde in Dusterson Part 2
General Summary
Roden have always unnerved me. That is why it makes it all the more easier for me to say this that they have been a problem within the town of Dusterson. It is a valley town within the Province of Kalgarim with many farmers. Typically the Civil Guard can handle the situation but they have been dealing with more roden than they would like.
It is suspected that a den could be involved. Dealing with their pack leader should cause the cowardly creatures to scatter. Though, the first step is to even find such a thing in the first place. I’d be more worried if the leader is found outside of it.
Before the Adventure
The party does a bit of shopping, such as getting silvered equipment in the Town. One thing they notice is that Skrolk warms up to Inquisitor Dorian. Though, reluctant, Arnsley entertains this roden’s eagerness to help the Inquisition.
Adventuring to the Hideout
The party waits out the night and let themselves be taken by these strange void-black vicians with no facial features. With a bit of a struggle, they land just outside the hideout.
Stepping in, they find Skeething playing with material of the Averse, throwing prisoners into its warping presence to transform them into something. It seemed as if the roden was hoping to gamble on getting an outcome he wanted.
The party stepped in, crashing his plans. Gavaln stepped away, telling him that he planned on salvaging the operation. Skeething was defeated and the Averse obelisk became destroyed. Gavaln stepped in to congratulate the party on their victory. He intends to aid the party by using his position to provide intel or sabotage where needs be. He refuses to see his master’s selfish vision come to fruition.
Altor decided to stay behind in Kalgarim while the party headed back to Esterson Hall. Altor and Gavaln planned on helping one of the warped victims. To do so required contacting a being that understands how to force their will on the Averse.
Averse Reversal
Altor and Gavaln managed to reach out to Kordgelle, a powerful being, as helped the warped avian victim. The One in Yellow Wraps explained that this Skeething wanted to implement some form of grand telepathy on these victims. Where there’s communication, it becomes a question of with who…
Back Home in Esterson
The rest of the party returns to Esterson Hall, meeting up with Petton Dyrovius just as he was walking up to the Hall. This powerful mage of Renaki University requested the Hall’s aid in search of his pet dog, Spud, within a forgotten temple. After agreeing, he takes his leave.
Remus and Welma also explain that they got word about Bremigan’s wellbeing. He’s been living at home with his mom, apparently. The worry from their secret insider is that if they managed to find him, so could the vician threat.
Anthell and Antharine soon head to a quiet part of the backyard, talking. Antharine had hoped to cheer up Anthell, remind him that he is worthy. But for him, he had a hard time seeing it as the other masters didn’t see it in him. Jera was the only one believing him ready. He also mentions feeling guilty not being able to save her.
Johan, Sen, and Emoru catch up with Anthell, cheering him up as they have a heart-to-heart talk.
