Vicarious Attack on Direson

General Summary

I wish we had met under better circumstances but I have been informed that there is the possibility of an attack on the Town of Direson. We have seen the approach of undead and roden from our scouts. Many of us worry that an attack is coming to the area.

I worry that the attack is aimed at our temple to Ornsen near the town. My advisors suggest it could be something else. That is why we meet at Count Dower’s estate to further coordinate a plan with the defenders.

Dire Times in Direson

Planning the Defense

The party assembled in Count Dower's estate alongside many important figures in Dulnmoor. Those at the meeting discussed how best to defend Direson. It was soon agreed that they would split their forces to ensure that both the luxian in the Revered temple and the Town of Direson would be defended thoroughly.

Attack on Direson

It was as Vicarion had hoped. The Direson defenders had split their forces evenly. Vicarion sent Skralkal and Reaving to the town with a vaslty larger force while he toyed with the temple defenders until his commanders had dealt with the town to reinforce him at the temple.

During the fighting, the party let the Savvy Strays over in the temple while the Dumb Luck Crew stayed in the town. On impact, Skralkal and Reaving broke through relatively easily. Both commanders split ways with their forces in the town to cause carnage to the defenders. The party proceeded to confront Reaving and deal a good blow against his undead lackeys.

Because of the Maledian force swerving to approach the temple after dealing their damage to the town, the party swiftly rushed for the temple. Seeing the coming force of the Maledian army approach from their flank, Lenhall called for a withdrawal. Darwin advised to bring down the luxian and spare it from damage. The Inquisitors swiftly saw to it as they evacuated from the town.

Darwin let out a lot of Sending spells to important figureheads he knew. When he reached out to Sullus, the fallen cael helped strengthen Darwin's ability to reach out and tap into many others. Gavaln, Professor Akmen of the Renaki University, the dukes and duchesses of Ardentry, Welma Reedacre, and even Petton Dyrovius.

Before Maedhros had rode off to warn the capital, Antharine had worried what became of her brother as he went with Aurdur and Uthril to help the town. Their new party member, Aaron Snowdust, used a bird to oversee where he could be. He found the three gravely wounded by Reaving as they ran off in shock and babbling fear to the safety of party. With their conscious clear, Maedhros and Antharine rode off for the capital.

Up in Cassius

Reaching Aldawn Castle, Albert Mayhew swiftly met with Maedhros about the complication afoot in the Town of Direson. As they talked, they finalized an agreement that Amelia and Mayhew would seek out Auxiliary forces to swiftly look into Dulnmoor's wellbeing. As they discussed, it came to light that Mayhew never did inform Amelia about how she had a brother. Mayhew simply couldn't find time to inform in a proper setting, as it would seem.

Maedhros then headed for Esterson Hall to converse with Elema about the Direson problem, which, Welma did not tell her about. Hearing the news, Elema also mentioned that House Sarter reached out to her since their trip to the Western Wastes. She mentioned that they have taken an interest in what she could inform them about as well as the households having concerns over House Palran's alignment with Reaving.

Elema cautioned to Maedhros about his heritage. The Dundragons have a tendency of being heroes who bring hope to the land which is what vicians loathe overall. She then mentioned that when dealing with vicians or Maledict members, she cautioned what mindset they carry.

"You see this wildlife painting? Beautiful, isn't it?"

Elema then took a quill and made a small etch into it.

"But that one little mark is ugly, isn't it? Now imagine if it were sentient, knowing that it had to be removed in order for the painting to be pretty again. That is why Maledians are constantly bitter."

Overtime, Elema was confronted again after Maedhros noticed some odd behavior from her. She seemed bitter. Maedhros managed to break her composure after some convincing as she spilled about how bitter and alone she felt being in this hall as well as her talents rarely seeing light. She was reassured that better days would come.

Safety in Ridgewater

Aaron took swift time to warn his brother in the city to get out before Maledian forces crawl further up north. He reluctantly agreed and would do so by nightfall.

Altor helped a wounded soldier from Direson who was near death. Purchasing some holy water, he helped to tend to the wounded from there. He was soon confronted by Morrovan, checking up on him on how he was doing as well as seeing what assistance he could provide in this struggle.

Once the Savvy Strays and Dumb Luck Crew gathered up as a whole, it would be decided that the Dumb Luck Crew would go out and investigate Vicarion's lair.
