Moku no Lin

Moku no Lin is an island north of the Lower Continent. It has unique fauna and flora, and is thus regarded as particularly valuable for the people in that continent. The Ikkoku Empire, their closest neighbour, has a history of trying to take over the island. They succeeded twice, but in both occasions the people of the island rose up against the invaders and got their independence back. This, of course, only strengthened Ikkoku's obsession with them, particularly with King Temeru on the throne. Thankfully, that particular king died before more blood cold be shed.

Geography

The island is mostly made of mountains, as it was formed by a volcanic explosion. The inner mountains are covered in snow for most of the year and are thus largely non-populated (other than criminals evading justice and other outlaws living out their sentences in the cold wilderness).

Fauna & Flora

Moku no Lin's fauna and flora evolved within the island, perfectly adapted to its circumstances. They have nothing in common with the rest of the continents, and are thus considered highly valuable around the world. The Angelic Wasps are one such example of that uniqueness (though they are actually bees, and are called that way due to a translation error).

Natural Resources

Most of the population lives in coastal cities and farms, relying on fish for subsistence. Farms tend to have cattle and sheep rather than crops, as the type of soil does not lend itself well to large-scale agriculture. On the other hand, the mountains that make up most of the island are rich in valuable mineral deposits, iron, and copper. Entire families spend their summers working in the mountains, returning home when the weather takes a turn to the worst. Blacksmiths are in high demand around the island, and one of the main reasons they were able to twice defeat the army of a much larger continental superpower.
