Wasteland Room

Not many people tend to go too far into Wasteland, but people in Desert may venture a bit far from their homes on the Wasteland territory. These people often report coming across a strange room - a room with doors and windows but no walls, save for a few piles of bricks in a corner.

The Room

The room is pretty small, about 3,5x3,5m big with a double bed, a nightstand and a radio in the corner. Surprisingly enough, the radio does work and you can find some Desert radio stations to listen to, but this is just about as much entertainment as you’ll get. The bed has blue bedsheets and two pillows, which is good if you find yourself here with another person.

There are no walls, only what appears to be a ruin of a wall in the far left corner. There is a door or one side of the room, and a window with curtains on the opposite side. There is no floor either, only sandy desert ground.

Location

The location of the room is hard to determine; it’s located somewhere deep in the desert, maybe in the Desert area or maybe already is Wasteland. It’s hard to say as this area is pretty much just an empty desert with no other features or landmarks around. Near the room there is a tree, which many assume is the last tree of Desert that’s next to the road leading out of Desert and into Wasteland. Not everyone is convinced though, because people know pretty well where that tree is, but no room appears to be near it, not all the time at least. Because of this, some are convinced that the room is similar to the Disappearing Cross on the other side of the world; it disappears and reappears at random.

Theories

One of the theories is that the room is not only similar to Disappearing Cross, but it’s directly connected to it, appearing at the exact same places and times as the cross, only on the other side of the world. Seeing one of these is hard enough, but keeping track of another landmark at the same time is nearly impossible, so this theory has never been confirmed.

Another theory is that the room will only appear itself to people who need it, such as travellers who got lost in the desert and need a place to rest. This one is easy to back up because if you do find yourself far enough to reach the room, you’ll surely need a good rest either way - nothing magical needs to be involved here.

Third theory is pretty boring, but might just be the most true of all: the room is located at one place, but it’s a place that is just hard to find, so it seems that the room is disappearing and reappearing. Of course, in the empty desert it is hard to really exactly locate anything, so even if you know where a certain spot is you’ll have a hard time actually finding it.

The last explanation is actually the most plausible one, but of course, conspiracy theorists and paranormal believers won’t be satisfied with that one.

Dreams

There is a good reason why people like to attribute paranormal characteristics to this room. It just so happens that this room often appears in people’s dreams - and not in a good way. It’s a frequent theme in people’s nightmares, and they always seem to run into misfortune there. Many report feelings of depression or dread, others report encountering a shadow figure trying to kill them or chase them out. Interestingly enough, nothing like that even happened to people who were actually at the location in person, in waking life.

Depiction in media

Despite the room being hard to find, many have been able to locate it and depict it in different scenes, one of them being one of the DANGER COMIC’s own covers. Another two depictions of it feature a scene from Tim’s dream where a shadow figure tried to chase him out of the room, and another one features Tadej’s dream, where he’s being threatened by the shadow figure that appeared to him as Scarlett.
