Plant Fuel

As you may have learnt, our world has many different ways to produce electricity. But you really can’t expect plants to produce all the energy we need to run our world can you? Well, maybe you can.

Importance of plants

Plants are probably the one most important thing in our world. They provide us with all sorts of materials that can be used for building, clothes, cosmetics, they can be used to make paper, leather, even plastic and a whole lot more. If you encounter an item in our world, plants were probably heavily involved in making it. Obviously, they’re also the main source of food and all sorts of delicious ingredients, in a manner you could say they serve as fuel for our people. But let’s not be cute here, they can provide more types of fuel than just mole-people-fuel.

Plant fuel

Something was already said before about electricity produced from plants, and this method of obtaining power is mainly used in Fairy Gardens and some eastern parts of atlds. Electricity is produced by harvesting electrons released by bacteria feeding on organic matter excreted through the plant's roots. Though mole people have managed to master and perfect this method of obtaining electricity and created many genetically modified plants capable of producing electricity, this simply isn't enough, or isn’t always a viable option.

Fuel Plants

To deal with this, moles have come up with ways to create plants based fuels that can be used for a variety of purposes. The best kinds of plants for this purpose turned out to be sugar cane, corn and soybeans. Many other plants can be used for production of plant fuel as well, though not as commonly.

These aren’t just ordinary corn, soybeans or sugar cane though. You can count on mole people to genetically modify the shit out of these to create the most efficient fuel plants. You /could/ still use these for food if you were really desperate but they wouldn’t be very tasty or nutritious. Farms that produce these will only focus on producing fuel plants, you wouldn’t want there to be some mix up between food corn and fuel corn.

Uses

This fuel can then be used for things such as:

  • generating electricity: this is especially useful in the colder months and rainy seasons when generally there aren’t a lot of plants - they will be back on Flower Day
  • heating and cooking: this goes hand in hand with the previous point. This is especially useful in the castles on farms. Often these tend to avoid using even plant electricity, but cooking and heating are two things they need to survive and this is where plant fuel comes in handy.
  • transportation: that’s right, all those tractors working on corn fields run on corn fuel. People need corn to fuel the tractors and other machinery, and they need tractors and other machinery to produce more corn fuel. It may seem like a pointless self sustaining circle form here, but tractors are needed for more than just working on corn fields, and plant fuel is used for a lot of different vehicles
  • other uses: there are a lot of things in our world that need some sort of an energy source and plan fuel can be used for anything

Who uses plant fuel?

Plant fuel is a resource used all across the world. The most of it is produced and used in Fairy Gardens, but it’s just as common in Å+*4~. It’s not really produced in Desert, but it’s imported from Å+*4~ and Fairy Gardens.

It’s more rarely used in T@Ö#Ä3. Production here is nearly impossible and importing it is very costly. Only the richest here can afford plant powered things, but even they mostly just don’t bother as this part of the world has its own ways of producing enough power for everyone.
