Vacationers

Moles like to take some time off every now and then, and time or midsummer is when they usually take longer vacations to travel. Especially the wealthier people living near the coast often own yachts and they like to sail out for the summer. Some just sail out for a weekend, maybe a week, some take their time and maybe even travel to other coastal settlements where they spend some time in the city. This is actually always a good thing to do, especially if you plan to spend more time out on the sea. You gotta get back to a city at some point and restock on supplies.

Another way to travel is with cruise ships. These are owned by families who will pretty much live out in the sea on their ship for most of the year, especially drawing the time of midsummer.

Adventurers

Some people don’t just sail out for a vacation, some are on a mission. There are many adventurers who sail out and stay out for longer periods of time. While they may return occasionally to restock and take a break, they will take a lot more supplies with them and stay out on the sea for longer periods of time. Some just never feel like settling down and live on their ship, traveling around the world, only stopping here and there for a short break. To them spending a week or two in a city is the real vacation.

Then you have those who go out to find out what is hiding out there in the ocean. Some would like to see creepy hands, some would like to avoid them, and some are really there to try and find some of the floaty islands. These strange and elusive islands intrigue many to try and find them. Sometimes they are successful and sometimes they aren’t.

Traders

Of course, our world is full of goods that need to be traded. These are traded and transported by caravan families that travel by land, but also by sea. And so, the ocean is full of the large trading ships, making their way from one settlement to another, all around the continent. They live like this, all year out on the sea, they only spend time on land for limited amounts of time, and during the time of Midyear.

They are always glad to accept the adventurers to travel with them and help with the work that needs to be done.
