Hand Plant

What is it?

Hand plant is a plant of a not entirely known origin. It was brought to the mainland from one of the floaty islands and is now kept as a houseplant by people from all across our world. It has either three, five or seven leaves at the base, depending on the size of the plant, and a long thick stem with a hand at the top. The plant is entirely green with all of its parts being thick but soft or even mushy in texture. The plant can grow as big as you let it. It is advised to not water it too much to keep it smaller as it can grow to become quite a troublesome plant.

Plant Care

Being brought for the wilderness, this plant is capable of easily surviving even in not the most favorable of conditions. It thrives the best if kept outside on fresh air and sunlight and it can be planted in a garden or kept in a pot. Jure make sure to keep it in a big enough pot, especially if it grows tall. You should keep it surrounded by other leafy plants that it can feed on and water it regularly, especially if kept inside.

Beyond that, hand plant can take pretty good care of itself. It will pick the leaves off of surrounding plants and bury them in the ground around its base. There they will serve as food to be absorbed by the plant's roots. Same will happen to any of the plant's own base leaves if they fall off or rot away. Because of this you should only keep the hand plant surrounded by other plants that are meant for its food and can regenerate and regrow leaves easily - putting it near some of your best prize winning roses will only end in disaster.

Plant's Behavior

Hand plants have quite a lot of personality for a plant - and they're quite the trouble makers. Apart form the fact that they may ruin some of your other plants if you're not careful, they like to engage in all sorts of mischiveous behaviors. Anytime when they're near people they will try to touch, poke or grab them and they will try to take and hide any of your items that might be in its reach. Some believe it's possible that this only a mistake the plant may make while looking for food, but many people who live with these plants will tell you that this is how they like to play and mess with their owners.

These plants are still extremely rare and an overwhelming majority of those who keep these plants don't only get them for decoration, but are very interested in studying these plants and spending a lot of time with them. It has been reported that, while these plant's can see, they absolutely can hear you. With patience, care and proper training, these plants have been taught to even somewhat effectively communicate with their owners. They've been taught a special kind fo sign language and have even been taught to play rock-paper-scissors. Some have tried to teach them to play board games, but without being able to see what's actually happening on the board hand plants aren't really able to effectively participate in this activity.

Fun aside, they can even be trained to perform simple tasks around the house which can be very helpful to disabled or sick people. Scientists are currently working very hard to create a version of this plant that would grow two hands - both the left and the right one. This would make the plant even more capable and helpful. But also a lot more terrifying if we're being honest.

Nevertheless, they have proven to be quite fun loving plants, who like to play and communicate with their owners. If you treate them right you can get yourself a qute a fun buddy who will play games and pull harmels fun pranks on you, but if you mistreat them they won't hesitate to retaliate.
