Darkwood
What is it?
Blackwood is a very special kind of wood that can only be made from Dead Trees of Haunted Forest and Wasteland. The wood made from these trees is known to be exceptionally hard and durable, and it is also completely black.
Where does it come from?
All of the darkwood that is used in our world comes from Haunted forest. It is produced by bat people living near it - they are the only ones who would dare to go in there and just chop down some trees with no fear of consequences. Of course, even they are very careful about it, and make sure to not chop down too many of these trees, lest they might anger the souls of the dead living there.
Uses
This wood can be used for a variety of things. Most of it is used by bat people themselves in building their homes and making furniture. They do not by any chance use it as firewood though, it’s far too valuable to just burn it. It is mostly reserved for especially fancy furniture.
Some of it gets made into wooden planks or furniture that can be exported to other places of the world. It often also gets traded for other wood - because it’s a lot more valuable, you can get a lot more wood like this.
Value and Rarity
You can imagine this wood is very rare and hard to get. Only a few bat settlements produce it, and even those don’t make a lot of it, and even then they use a lot of it for themselves. As such it’s considered to be the most expensive kind of wood in the world, or not even the most expensive resource in general. People are willing to spend a whole fortune on a piece of furniture made from darkwood, and these pieces are usually made to be especially nice looking. They wouldn’t disrespect the wood by making just some ordinary plain chair out of it, and they wouldn’t disrespect the customers who are actually able to buy such an expensive piece of furniture to sell them something subpar in appearance.
You will see items made of this wood only in the houses of the wealthiest people who can actually afford it, and most of these are Satan’s priests. They are the main target group of people who have the money and the interest in creepy stuff like this to buy it.
Ok But-
Yes, yes, I know what you’re thinking. This all sounds nice, but the wood is acquired from Haunted Forest - the most haunted place in our world. Is it really a good idea to have something like this in your house? Can you be afflicted by some terrible deadly curse?
Well yes, but actually no. You don’t really have to worry about any deadly curses, or at least this hasn’t happened to anyone yet. You should worry a little bit about furniture made from darkwood being haunted. Of course, a lot of people actually are into that, and are even willing to pay even more money for a haunted piece of furniture, so that's the opposite of a problem.
