Caravan Families
What are they?
Our world relies heavily on transport of different goods between different regions of the world. The ones responsible for distribution and transport of these goods are very special families - the caravan families.
These families are travelling families that pretty much live on the road. They travel around the world, getting goods in one place, and then transporting them to other places. Some of them travel only between short distances, and others travel all the way between Fairy Gardens and Desert, and even tgohab. They usually have between 20-30 people, and usually these are young people with no children, though there are exceptions. They live on the road and may stop for a short time at storage camps where they unload their goods and exchange them for other goods they transport forward.
Who is in the family?
These families can have anywhere between 20-30 members, sometimes a few more or less. These families live and work on a series of different vehicles. Some are transport trucks for goods that they need to transport, some are filled with gods for family’s own use, and then there’s also the ones dedicated to living. Some of these families travel and live on boats of ships, and some own trains.
A family can be on the road for days, so they need a place to sleep, eat and have fun. The number of trucks they own varies between families, but only rarely they have less than 10. For convenience, these families rarely include children, but some families with children may decide one day to become a caravan family. These are more common with the families who live and tavel by boats or ships.
Sometimes these families are accompanied by other travelers or adventurers on their trip to wherever they may wanna go. These can tag along for company and to get directions to where they’re going, and often they are also happy to help out the family. They often do it to earn some extra money for their adventure, but some just want to help out for free. It’s not unheard of for one of these travelers to get attached to the family and stay for good.
Life on the road
These people spend most of the time on the road, driving. The reason why these families tend to be bigger is so that they have enough drivers to switch around, one person can only stay focused on driving for a limited amount of time. They spend most of their days driving with short breaks of rest, food and changing drivers. At night they stop and set up an overnight camp where they as well as their trucks can get some rest and down time.
Their main stops are the storage camps. These are the main destinations where they unload their goods, take new goods for their trip forward, restock, and occasionally take a day or two off in the living quarters where they can sleep in a proper bed, take a proper shower and enjoy a meal in a proper kitchen. They can also take this time to visit towns they’re in and enjoy the sights and events worth visiting.
