Butterflies & Moths

Butterflies are one of the most common insects found in Ä+*4~ and Fairy Gardens. Some of them may be found in areas of Desert, but only moths can be found in T@Ö#Ä3. Butterflies come in many different shapes and sizes. Their sizes can range from 2cm to 10cm, and their colors range from solid colors, to elaborate patterns. They are delicate small critters that people closely relate to the fairies. Because of that, and their important role in pollinating flowers, they are respected as one of the most important beings of our world.

What Are They?

To you, traveler of this multiverse, it might seem obvious that insects are a part of the animal kingdom, but if you’ve been here for a while, you’ll know that things aren’t always that simple here. In our world, butterflies are a life form considered to be something between a plant and animal. They grow as beautiful blossoms on flowers, and when they mature into adulthood, they detach from the flower and fly away.

Life Cycle Of A Butterfly

As said, butterflies start their life as a plant. In early spring season, these flowers start to grow, and soon they grow cocoon-like growths. By mid spring, these bloom into beautiful blossoms of many different shapes and sizes. These blossoms are butterflies. When they reach maturity, they would detach from the stem and fly away into the world. At night, they still return to their original plant they grew from to rest. They live through mid-late spring and summer like this, and in fall, it’s time for the mating season. Mating season lasts all fall and ends with females laying eggs and burying into the ground. These eggs are seeds that will next spring grow into new butterfly flowers, and so start over the cycle.

Unfortunately, butterflies only live through one year, and don’t survive the winter. Which I guess is ok because new butterfly flowers grow every year.

Significance

Besides being pretty, butterflies are the main insects to pollinate the flowers and trees, thus keeping our world alive. During the late spring and summer months, they fly away from their plants and pollinate all of the nearby flowers that don’t grow their own insects. To moles and fairies, they are especially important when it comes to pollinating plants in fruit gardens and orchards. They usually have butterfly flowers planted throughout their gardens and orchards, to have butterflies always present. Because of this, many people may also choose to have butterfly farms, where they grow and sell butterfly flowers and butterfly seeds for others to plant on their own farms.

Moths

While butterflies are very common in Ä+*4~, you won't find any in T@Ö#Ä3. Here, you'll find moths instead. Similar to butterflies, they as well grow on flowers and are responsible for pollinating the few rare plants that grow in T@Ö#Ä3. As there isn't as much food available there, they are better known as a nuisance that gets into people's houses, and eats their clothing and cereal.
