Apocalyptic Culture

In our modern world you might encounter many different cultures. The ones living on the farms of Fairy Gardens, the citizens of atlds or even East and West tgohab, the underground dwellers of Desert, the Wastelanders and everything in between. They all seem very different now, but they all originate from the same culture, whose influence is still very present today in all of these cultures, most notably in Wasteland and Desert cultures. This is the so-called apocalyptic culture, the first culture of the truly modern mole people.

Apocalyptic culture

The apocalyptic culture was very heavily influenced by the conditions people lived in at that time. It was necessary for them to stitch together and start forming larger colonies, while maintaining friendly relations with other colonies. Because of scarcity of food and other goods they learnt to be frugal, only using as much as they needed. They started placing more importance on religion and praying to their gods in hopes that they one day save them, and they spent their days in the underground focusing on handmade crafts. This wasn’t only to keep their sanity, but it was a necessity since the only way to get anything down there was to make it yourself.

Influence today

The influence of the apocalyptic culture is today most present in Wasteland and Desert cultures. In many ways they still live almost like they did in the apocalyptic times. They are still known to form larger families and stick together, while relying less on the technological advancements of the modern times and try to be as self-sufficient as possible.

But the culture’s influence is still felt in all of the cultures of our modern world. The apocalypse in a way meant a turning point from the ancient wasteful and destructive cultures to the modern cultures more focused on community, creation and religion.
