Founder's Tree

While it is a tree, a Founder's Tree isn't so much a particular type of tree as it is the first tree, or sometimes a small grove, planted in any given settlement in the Balelands region.
This tree or grove has cultural significance for the settlement, giving the settlers a sense of history and being attached to the land and the surrounding environment. But the grove or tree also has an important function for the given settlement as these are established in the 'magnetic north' with regards to the settlement. This allows the locals living in that settlement to have a physical marker to help with area navigation.

Significance

The Founder's Tree is of cultural importance to Baleland settlements, signifying the local inhabitants connection to the land and the surrounding environment. It also where local settlers will tie their colorful tabik wraps as part of an ananpel observance.

Raw materials & Components

The only requirements for a Founder's Tree is that the grove itself must contain at least one oak tree and a set of firvek shrubs planted at the cardinal location for magnetic north with respect to the town.
