Session 71: Earrenia Has Fallen

General Summary

The Sixth Nation

57th of Spirende 22nd year of the Second Era   Once the Quorum of Acreomond delegations had calmed from their initial panic they demanded an explanation from Jarl Rupert Wasser for the intrusion. He explained that He had pressing matters to discuss that involved all five nations of the Quorum. He began with the history of Eldath and Mantus, The Millenium of Darkness. Then explained that the original champions of the Fyra defeated Mantus and sealed him away, but a Cult of Mantus remained and plotted over thousands of years to release him again, eventually making their public appearance as the Temple of the Black Star. He went on to explain how the cult had recruited the now Emperor Valem Ekström, arranged the illness of his father and the assassination of Alexandra Nordheim to put him in power.   At this point he revealed that Palhas Province had intended to appeal to the Earrenian Imperial Council for sovereignty, and when Emperor Valem discovered this, he had the family of Palhas council member Nilron Morlamin kidnapped and blackmailed him into assisting in an assassination attempt on Wasser himself. The council became agitated with these accusations, so Wasser revealed Alexandra and Nilron to corroborate his story. he council and the Quorum as a whole were shocked to see Alexandra alive, to which she clarified that officially she would remain dead, and renounce the throne at the end of the proceedings. Wasser went on to explain how Orcus, a former lieutenant of Mantus had corrupted the city of Hame, and once The Regulators, the descendants the original champions, prevented Mantus' return, turned on on Valem and began to make his own plans for world domination.   With the Quorum caught up on current events, Alexandra explained that one of her final acts as Empress was to grant the secession of Palhas Province and Frielos Province, and order the council to nominate the new kingdom to join the Quorum. A vote was taken by the other delegation, with Toresia being the deciding vote after some negotiation on as trade corridor.   Finally, Alexandra gave her last order to the council; Her brother could no longer be allowed to hold the throne, and The Regulators would be the best choice to eliminate him. A writ was prepared and the party was sent on their way to the imperial palace.

Valem The Last

The Regulators approached the gate and handed over one of the writs which prompted the commander of the guards to be called out he viewed the writ and the classified secondary writ verifying that Alexandra had given the council that authority. He ordered the guards to abandon their posts permanently, then escorted the party into the palace telling the rest of the guards to evacuate the building. Leading them to the emperor's court he asked about Alexandra, having watched her grow up he was relieved at the implication she was still alive.    The Regulators entered the court where Valem was waiting for them. He engaged them in discussion trying to convince them that all the deaths of people they cared about mostly fall at the feet of Orcus, and they now share a common enemy. He offered to allow Palhas to secede, and give them the resources of the empire to assist in defeating Orcus. They declined, and he held up a crystal orb the allowed him to transform into a demonic form given to him by Mantus, tearing apart the building in the process. After a hard fought battle, Valem returned to his human form, and just before they could finish him of, Alexandra rushed into the room and to his side. He begged her spare him from them, and apologized for all he had done, explaining that he felt like being bastard meant he would never come out from her shadow.   She seemed to comfort him and told him she wouldn't allow them to kill him. But after a few moments it became clear that she was using some sort of telepathic power to painfully cause his brain to melt from the inside. When he finally stopped shaking and died in her arms, she stood up and walked away as if nothing had happened.   Later, The Regulators met up with Ethed and told her what they saw. She seemed to not be surprised but suggested that they not say anything to King Wasser until after Orcus had been defeated. Alexandra and the Order of the Crystal Eye were useful allies, but would make formidable enemies.   To Be Continued...
