Sídarra (see-dar-ah)
Lady of the Green
Sídarra is a Prime Deity and the younger of the twin goddesses of nature, her sister, Ríona, being the elder. Sídarra represents life and growth, generally viewed as a benevolent goddess. Sídarra is the beauty of nature, the pleasant weather, a gentle stream, growing crops. Vor and Sumar are her seasons. She enjoys seeing mortals revel in natural beauty, and many gardens will have shrines to Sídarra asking for her blessing of beautiful flowers and wildlife. Of the two sisters, Sídarra is the one that is worshiped out of appreciation. While shunning general civilization and development, she does appreciate when attempts are made to live with and alongside it. Many of the Seelie creatures of Faerie are creations of Sídarra, evident by their strong ties to nature, growth, and beauty. The Archfey and Sumar Queen Titania is believed to be her daughter and embodies much of her mother's aspects. Much like the beauty of nature can hide great danger, Sídarra, and her daughter Titania, are fearsome when angered. Sudden Sumar storms, typhoons, hurricanes, and droughts are all aspects of her displeasure, and entire cities have been destroyed when caught in her ire.
Sídarra and Ríona are highly antagonistic towards each other, though this was not always the case. In the beginning of Fiore, the sisters were inseparable, with Ríona ever protective of her "younger" sister, and Sídarra looking up to and relying on Ríona. During the Creation War, Ríona was captured by the Forsaken, and believed dead by Sídarra. This was after Asmodeus' betrayal to join the Forsaken, and it was his intervention and deception that made Sídarra believe Ríona dead and give up the search for her sister. As part of Asmodeus' second betrayal, returning again to the gods of Fiore, he weakened the prison holding Ríona, allowing her escape. Ríona returned but much had changed. Believing herself abandoned by her beloved sister, Ríona had come to hate Sídarra. Being subjected to the torture and insanity of the Forsaken had hardened Ríona, and Sídarra's pleas of explanation fell on deaf ears. Their now eternal conflict is known as the War of Seasons, and the Sumar and Vetur courts of Faerie embody it on a mortal level.
